I’ve used NAPA brand too. The seem to interchange with Heli Coil. I’ve used time serts only when a Heli Coil failed on cast iron

I've used Timeserts, Helicoil, and Keenserts. I use pretty much only Timeserts now...

That guy was killing me. Children please use a cutting fluid when you are drilling and tapping aluminum.

All of the real inserts he used work well. I prefer to use a keylock insert but have lots of Heli-Coil kits here in my office. The downside to a coiled insert is that they can back out from friction on something that the bolt is removed often. Also many times I see that people don't insert them far enough below the surface to protect the first thread from pulling.

I would like to have seen him use a grade 8 or 9 bolt to test the insert strengths.

Here is a keylock type.

You can be sure a "NAPA brand" is simply a re-boxed item from a manufacture. So I would say you're spot on with Heli Coil.

All the napa ones I have are helicoil boxes.
One thing I have wondered about is when you have enough thread depth that one insert isn't enough. What is the process for stacking them? Any tricks?

You can buy them in varying lengths. I would never advise stacking them so to speak.

I’ve just made sure to get the tang off flush so it buts to the top tread of bottom one, red lock tite and that seemed to work fine.
