Thanks Kevin for the great article remembering Scotty. I know Kyle Seipel and Scotty will be flipping coins for lane choice up there!

When everything is coming your way, your probably in the wrong lane.

I met Scotty one time when I took his class. Great guy and knows his stuff and he was good at teaching others. One thing to me that stuck out about him and you just can not teach others is his memory. There was about 15 of us and on the day we did the track session he watched all of us run and then when we came back he knew what everyone ran. Then he starts playing games to teach us actual on track about holding and breaking out. I do not think he had any notes but he would have about half of us hold some numbers and run one of the others. He knew when we got back if we did not kill any and exactly what we ran. Then would change the scenario and run us again. All the time knowing exactly what everyone of us ran. Then he would explain what we did on the run and explain to us what scenario to use in a race to win.
He was one of best bracket racers ever and very good at teaching others. But I do not know anyone who could watch 15 racers and remember what each one of them ran and have them hold numbers and know what the ran and how much they killed. Scotty got his start at Texas Raceway in Kennedale which may have produced more bracket and index racing Champions than any other track in America. The list of Winners from that track is huge and he was one of the best there and in the whole Country. It takes many things to Win, Talent, practice, Knowledge, good car, concentration, Confidence, nerves and more, some things you can teach and some not so much. Scotty had them all and was good at giving others the Knowledge to win. I am grateful to have known him and Thankful for all he taught me, he really helped me win races and Championships.

Rest in Peace Champ.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.
