I've been seeing this type of statistic going around the last couple days, and it piqued my interest. I wanted to see it by state to see if anything fishy jumped out in battleground states. The final 2024 numbers obviously aren't available, but I looked at the jump between 2016 and 2020 using data from the Federal Elections Commission reports.
The biggest finding was that votes for "other" candidates was WAY down in 2020, which added a lot of votes to both the D and R candidates.
The biggest jumps in D votes were in heavily red states, but not enough to get even close to flipping the state blue. Meaningless votes, essentially. And the R votes were up a similar amount in those same states. The only state with a big D increase to flip was Arizona, but there was also a sizable increase in R votes compared to 2016. It's interesting, but not a red flag.
It'll be interesting to add in the 2024 report data once it is available.

Tony, I believe that there were a lot of Democratic voters that just flat didn't like the way things have been for the last 4 years and in no way could stomach voting for Pres. Trump so that would make the blue vote drop considerably. In essence a non vote was a vote for. I could be wrong though.
Markemark, I never said "raise" oil prices, just don't crash the market again. Basically stay out of it.

I can certainly buy that line of thinking. The only time I was eligible to vote but did not was in 2016. I couldn't stomach the thought of voting for either candidate, and had the convenient excuse of helping my friend tow to Pomona for the World Finals over Election Day.
The posts I am seeing with voter trends is meaning to indicate that 2020 was clearly a steal. I have never thought that was the case, but these totals being presented are eyebrow-raising so I decided to dig into the detail. I didn't find any substance to it.

In the last couple of hours, I have seen several Democratic pundits say they are digging into why there were approx. 18 millon Democratic registered no shows at the polls. Tony's point may be a valid statement based on his observation and the pundits.

I worry that Trump's relationship with Elon Musk will cloud his judgement on EV's. I also don't trust Musk any further than I could throw him. His cozying up to Trump could be all about keeping the EV subsidies rolling in.
Musk has specifically said that he doesn't want subsidies.

At least you got rid of Gascon where you all live.

Greasy Gavin Newsom will be running for President in 4 years, you can count on it. They have 4 years to figure out how to cheat him in

Independent Bernie Sanders along with several Democrats said today that the Democrats going to extreme Left on things like not supporting Israel, allowing Men in Womens sports, Paying for transgender surgeries for prisoners, Defunding Police, allowing Drag Queens in children's schools, Open Borders, Immunity for illegal aliens that these things went too far even for most Democrats. Also many Democrats were upset about the Hate retoric from fellow Democrats. Those were some of major reasons te Democrats lost. That was from Democrats mouth.
I agree with that, if you want to gain the vote of the population you need to talk to all of them and not alienate them for a small minority. Take for instance Abortion, many Democrats want to allow Abortion up to due date and some have even said to have the Baby and make it comfortable until mother decides if she wants to abort it! "IT" was already born!
A few far Right Republicans do not want any Abortions under any circumstances. If the party was to take that extreme position they to would lose a lot of support.
Most Americans in my opinion want limited abortions but prefer more Birth Control and reasonable limits on abortion. Maybe allow it first Trimester except for health or severe birth defects. And more free and easy access to all types of birth control.
Point is when you take far extreme on any side of any issue you will lose more in the middle than you will gain on edges and Democrats went far too left.
But then some Democrats are saying they made a mistake in replacing Biden with Kamala that Biden would have won. I do not believe that but they can think what they want.
My opinion on that was the Democrats did it to themselves. They made it so nobody could debate or run against Biden in Democrat primaries. That would have allowed the people in the party to pick who ever they felt was best for them. The Democrat party took that from them and choose for them. Nobody likes that.

Mr T has already called on leaders around the world. Times up! Nancy in the mean time dumped all her / husbands stock in Visa card…. He’s coming after you Nancy…
Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren (aka Fauxcahontas) are the two biggest dangers in the Senate, easily.

Anyone here possibly from Arizona, California, or Nevada that can tell us why it takes a week or more to count votes when all the other states were done within a few hours of polls closing? Just curious. ESPECIALLY Maricopa County, what a s___ show...

Sly, one reason, here in Nevada, is that for mail in ballots have to be postmarked by election day. In other words, as long as they are postmarked by 11:59 pm on election day they are good to go. Then, how ever long it takes for our very efficient USPS to load up their snail and get the vehicle moving in the right direction without breaking down, and then having the election volunteers try to figure out if the ballot is actually legal or not, it does slow the progress down. Cant speak for the other states, but my guess would be somewhat similar.Case in point, according to the news this morning, 13000 ballots still uncounted due to signature issues. This message has been edited.
