Motorstate Warehouse shut down for about a week!
I get most of my race parts from Motorstate Warehouse in Michigan and it says they had a major computer issue. Been closed for about a week!
I would have thought some 21 year-old with an iPhone could have it fixed by now.
Is this the type of things hackers can do?
Why target us racers? National Security? LOL!
Just found it strange, it has been down so long.

Jok, I am in the same boat. I buy regularly from Motorstate and am now to the point of being worried about the situation. I just this minute checked the Lane Automotive site, and it has the same message up. Like you, I find it troubling that such a huge operation could be shut down for a week over a computer issue. Just consider the lost revenue a week's business for both stores would represent. I have even reached out to my contacts by phone and email with no results.

Does anyone have any insight to the situation?

Interesting for sure. Most large business have insurance for loss of income, but it's never a good deal when your customers have to go somewhere else.

If it is ransomware it can take a long time to get fixed.

Places like that are a soft target for hackers to scam out of money. My company got hit once.

That’s what I was thinking. And if so, insurance is involved and they are investigating to see what happened and also decide whether to pay the ransom. It gets paid often.

I worked for large company that had the ransom put on it, and after the FBI met with us, we were told to pay the ransom and move on. Paid it and the company was back running within hours and it was like nothing ever happened. Scary stuff!

That's why I keep our point of sale system and the accounting system totally separate.
The entire world can crash and we'll just whip out a pile of hand written invoices, and continue to serve our customers just like always.

I will NEVER become dependent on systems and networks to do my business.
