We're looking forward to a GREAT, fun, fast-paced weekend!
We've had racers ask about the Weekend Entry Discount: Yes, you may double-enter one of the 5K's and single enter the 10K on a Weekend Entry. (Must be the same driver on all three entries) Just be sure to tell them your intentions at the gate.
THURSDAY Track-operated Test n' Tune ($25) 5PM-9PM Gates will be open all night for parking.
NO RACE ENGINES FIRED BEFORE 9AM ANY DAY You can start warm-ups after 9AM. We will start calling Double Entries to the lanes at 9:40AM (Footbrake to Lanes 1-2, No-Box to Lanes 3-4). Be ready to go: First pair in the water at 10AM Sharp! Blue *and* Red Run Sticker Footbrake cars, and Blue Run Sticker No-Box cars will be on a short standby.
RUN ORDER: (Double Entries, Blue Run Stickers, Red Run Stickers) We will alternate back and forth, running a pair of Footbrake, pair of No-Box, pair of Footbrake, pair of No-Box, etc. Historically, there are more No-Box entries than Footbrake. When Footbrake runs out of side-by-side pairs, we will close off the FB lanes, and pair FB front-to-back (high card draw for lane choice). The last FB car may run a No-Box car. Any late arrivals will go into the No-Box lanes.
Make your travel plans for Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia, Ohio, because WE ARE RACING! We've had a question or two about the weather, despite what is actually a good forecast. We have five races planned over three days, and we plan to give them to you!
We learned about the Dark Sky app this year, and it's been nothing short of phenomenal. This service provides "hyperlocal" weather: forecasts for where YOU are (GPS location or street address), not where the weather station is. It can predict rainfall down to the minute! Check it out at www.darksky.net or get the app at www.darksky.net/app.
At our last event at Virginia, all of the major weather sites and the local weather all said "90%!" Sat-Sun. Dark Sky said there would only be an early morning shower Sat, and a late shower on Sunday -- and they were dead-on. We ran five races over the weekend with no problem!
For this weekend at Kil-Kare, Dark Sky is currently showing all good. Never let a bad weatherman keep you home!
Each year, Loose Rocker brings our own blinder for the tree, similar to what is run at National, Divisional, and Bracket Finals events, so our bottom bulb customers can concentrate on their side of the tree without the need for tape on the windshield.
Looking forward to seeing everyone for a beautiful weekend of racing here at the Summit Racing Equipment Labor Day No-Box Classic, at Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia, Ohio!
(Yes, that's the extent of my fabrication "skills"... but it gets us through the weekend!) This message has been edited. Last edited by: Michael Beard,
SATURDAY A forecasted short shower percolated into a much longer and heavier line of rain than expected that cut short the ATI $10K Main Event with 5 cars remaining: Nick Bowman, Brian Baehr, Jace Deering, Joe Oswald, and Joe Barney. They ran off for the Big Check and the Loose Rocker Eagle trophy with a practice tree race. Brian Baehr took home the winner's awards, with Jace Deering taking the runner-up. Sunday's $5K was moved up to Saturday night, also lost to rain.
We'd like to thank each and every one of the racers who supported this event, with folks coming from as far away as Iowa, Tennessee, and North Carolina.
