dragkid1990nhra/contingency companies not paying sportsman winners.
Jeff Longhany won Stock a couple weeks ago at the first D2 Divisional in Orlando. due to his stickers/sticker wrap not being the "correct size," he did not get paid for contingency. I know it says in the rulebook they do have to be a certain size. he won and/or runnered up at couple races last year without issue I believe. I know it is not exactly in NHRA'S control, but it is pretty sad would allow the companies to do this.

Tim MitchellRules are rules, if it says it in the rule book he should've followed the rules. It sounds like what really happened is he tried ti circumvent the rules and he's being rewarded properly.

imakehpYou have to be aware of what size decals each manufacture requires to be on the car. Most are just heir "standard" decal, but some have contingency decals that are larger. Not to mention a separate decal for each product, not just that manufactures name. AND most don't like you over lapping several decals to save space.
Now that all said, a manufacture posts X amount of dollars each year to be handed out by NHRA through the season. NHRA does NOT refund any surplus back to the manufactures at the end of the year. So unfortunately it's in NHRA's best interest to find any reason not to pay the racer.
IMHO of course....

CURTIS REEDI don't see how this can even be a complaint. They have a standard, it wasn't met.

DragRaceResultsSticker wraps and size has been VERY public knowledge for years now. Not an issue.
As far as NHRA keeping it, there is a very low thresh hold so that's really over thinking it. It's more about enforcing a rule in respect of what the companies paying the money require.

sportsman winners not following nhra/contingency companies requirements
There, I fixed it.
Yes, people got away with it for a long time, so everyone thought it was okay. Kinda like speeding. People think "Everyone does it. It's only illegal if you get caught."
I was a class racer for many, many years, and those contingency postings paid the bills, and I'm forever grateful for those companies. They deserve respect, and that means following their requirements. It's their money.

David CoveyI remember the crying when Milodon required us during winners circle pictures and contingency checks to confirm they really were running a Milodon oil pan. A lot of racers were running the stickers but not the products.
It's hard to confirm cams pistons etc. when you can't see them..
And then there was the sticker slapping after the fact.
IHRA would compare pictures during the race to the winners circle pictures.

I have never received a contingency check from NHRA all the checks I've received have always come from the manufacturer, they normally want a W9 and have to hear from NHRA that you did win or R/U and met all requirements.
