No one is forced to take the vaccine. A person may not be able to remain in the military by refusing the vaccine - their freedom choice - but the military can set any standard it feels best. Same with public companies - totally legal to drug test - applicants are free to refuse. Some companies refuse to hire people who smoke cigs. The freedom is when the decision is made to not take the vaccine. The consequences are not an infringement of freedom. | |||

Bull, I worked at company for 36 years and in Jan of 2021 they came out and said it is a requirement of employment to work there to be vaccinated. It was NOT in our Union agreement or approved by Membership and it was NOT FDA approved at that time. To tell you the truth I am not sure it should have ever been approved. Very few if any young people were dying of Covid and now many young people who have got the shot are dying of heart issues. Back to requiring employees to take vaccine. I caught the Union President right after I heard that and asked him. He said Yes, company can force me to take it Union said they think it is best. So I told him B!+ch are you signing for me accepting all responsibility for side effect or Death? He said No. I am NOT going to sign a release of Liability for a shot THEY MAKE ME TAKE! Not going to do it. If they the Union and the Company are going to force me to take it THEY will BOTH have to sign and take all legal responsibility and it will be notarized. They can not have it both ways where they force you but you accept the responsibility. I am NOT taking a not FDA approved shot when we do not know long term effects. I had already had Covid and it was nothing, no big deal at all. He said they could terminate me. I got right in his face and said lets go to Labor Relations and fire me right now, I am NOT taking it. Does not say in the Union Agreement as a requirement of employment and it is not Federally Approved. We will go to court over it but I am not taking it. And they can not come back and say it is a Condition of employment when it is not in our Union Contract and agreed upon by the people. If the company can do what ever they want then you do not have a Union at all. Pretty simple the Company and the Union make an agreement on what terms of employment and code of conduct etc and they all agree to work with in that agreement. Even now that it is approved they still do not know the long term effects and they have a 76 year legal protection against lawsuits on it. If it is so great why did they want protection from lawsuits? Why are young, healthy athletes dying of sudden heart problems? As for making it Political if you do or do not? It was BOTH Kamala and Biden that said before the "Election" that they were not taking the Trump vaccine an unapproved, not fully Tested Vaccine, then after the "Election" they wanted to FORCE everyone to take it. I did not change my stance on it and still have not. THEY CHANGED THEIR STANCE. Look it up. They made it Political. You mentioned Smoking and I understand your point there but take for instance company I worked for. They have been around since 1912? or somewhere around that time and many people smoked. Then about 15 years ago they decided that "This Company is now a Smoke and Tobacco Free Environment and nobody will be allowed to use any Tobacco products" I do not even smoke and I can see them telling all new hires that they are not allowed to smoke. But to tell someone who has worked there for 20 or 30 years and smokes that now they do not? They snap their fingers and we are required to jump? Lets take it a step further if they are saying for your own good you are not allowed to smoke as a condition of employment. What about those who drink a lot? Fat people? People who drag race or anything else they may consider to be dangerous? Is that next? Final point on smoking and I hate to sound cold but they gave the people the line that is because of insurance costs. I do not buy that. You work all your life to retire and draw Social Security, Medicare and Retirement check. People who live to be 90 or so have hip replacements, Cancer, end up in homes with expensive health care and cost a lot of money. Most people who smoke die of heart attack at 58 or so and never even draw Social Security, Retirement or Medicare. So they never get to draw any of the benefits they worked their whole life for. If it is about money it is the ones who retire at 60 and live to 90 or more who are costing so much. And they took away our insurance after we retire anyway. No Sir. They were shutting down the plant in December anyway so as far as I know they did not fire anyone for not taking it. Lots of Saber Rattling and Threats but in the end I think they knew the legal battle would not be worth it in a plant that was shutting down. Actually,it's a great comparison. If you don't want to wear the personal safety items,you quit or get fired. Actually, your personal safety items is not a good comparison.This vaccine was never tested,and we already are hearing all kinds of things resulting from it. Back in August, I had to have a surgery on my nose.Now I don't know if it was caused by the vaccine,but I highly suspect that it was. I had a huge mass taken out of my left nostril.It was not cancerous,and the lab described it as a huge blood clot. All I know is that if a booster is ever required,I will definitely quit my job after nearly 40 years.Don't care about losing a pension or anything else. NEVER AGAIN! | |||

Well the other plants ARE required to take it as a condition of employment and our Union bent over and took it. Just so happened they were closing our plant down and we got laid off before the stuff hit the fan. They would have had to fire me but I was not going to quit and I am not taking the vaccine. At that time it was not FDA approved and I think they would have a big lawsuit on their hands for forcing someone to take something not approved as a condition of employment. Now that it is approved the decision would be tougher to make.
