I have watched both Daddy Dave and Murder Nova run at a local track here in DFW, prepped with the scoreboard turned on and both ran mid 4.0x. Not a big fan of either but I was really impressed with the cars and how they interacted with the fans. I would bet guys like Ryan Martin and Kye Kelly run in the 3.8 to 3.9 range
...Of course it Always depends on the track. Both of those cars are capable of that or better on fast tracks. But the track is a major equalizer and the more experience you have with the set up the better advantage you have. One guy that ran with us on the West Coast pulled up stacks and is now East running that Low Prep King Series. He's learned fast and runner upped to Martin in one of the races. Some of those cars are making serious power. I've seen a couple of them push 207-208 in the 1/8 mile. It's been a long time since I have had this much fun racing again. Kinda like the old days. Not many rules and first one at the strip wins.

....Actually my son Curtis and I are putting together a class like that for the 2020 season on the West Coast. We will book the class with the Boddie Street Outlaw program. It will be a Run What ya Brung 1/8 mile heads up 4/10 tree. For starters it will be open to any type vehicle, any power adders and any fuel including nitro. Program will run like the Street Outlaw deal. Draw out of a hat for opponent and Lane. Seems to be plenty of interest.

First round call outs? Big Grin
Limited prep? I would have to think light dragsters would have quite an advantage?
.....Well,...bring your roll of bills and place your bets. May not be as easy as it looks.

That brings another question: Where is all the money coming from? Not just for the betting but man look at the equipment! And the broken parts!

....Jay Boddie is making enough power,...his car is a back half' car. He now has that one for sell. I assume he is building a new chassis to match the power.

Even with the producers obviously focusing on the drama, it seems like there are some really decent people racing in that deal.

I have found like in all things you will encounter a few jerks with over active egos. But for the most part, most are good racers, helping each other right up until you stage the car. Mostly good people.

I watch the show for entertainment...I have seen the fireball cammaro go 3.9's at duck's south georgia event...that car is no joke...

That dust up with Musi was silly...the starter was the one who made the mistake...they always give the racer two minutes to stage...Musi calling axeman's car junk was disrespectful...no need for that qwap...

Musi called Eric Bains car a POS more out of frustration than anger the way I saw it...some of it's kind of corny but entertaining IMO.

Like everything on tv, the producers want content for the program. They fabricate tension and confrontations. It's what keeps viewers coming back and pays the bills.

It is all entertainment and a bunch of fake Drama. I watch the shows but really do not pay much attention.
The cars are impressive but I do not like how they act like it is low budget street racers and driving million dollar 18 wheeler rigs with no telling how much in the cars.

Those guys are making money hands over fists and I do not have a problem with that they created a market and have made a lot of money from it. Just quit acting like they are just street racers.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I don't know that any of them are now trying to convince anyone that they a poor street racers. Frankly, I'm thrilled that they found a venue to do this at track events. Former street racers that are now doing their thing at the track. That's a fine narrative for me!

Never heard once that they were low budgets street racers.

Bucky, they didn’t take them off the street. Discovery Channel saw a opportunity and took it. Good for them.

Enjoy the tv show but after one trip to see it in person that’s it for me

The fast guys are going 3.90's to 4.0's. I would like to know how much they are getting paid from Discovery. I know it has to be a bunch for these guys to drop the coin they are dropping just to go race. I also wonder if there is ever any splitting going on.

.......on good prepped tracks I've seen several of them go considerably quicker that that. Trying to remember for sure. But think it was Martin go 3.71 at 207-208.

Soooooo, these guys are clearly commercial rolling down the highway...sponsorships, rigs provided, parts provided, selling shirts hats mugs, getting paid to show up, ect. The winnings seem to have nothing to do with it.?

Think they are stopping at weigh stations? Think they follow commercial driving laws?

Just thinking out loud...when the troopers come down on the bracket racer...are these the things we point out to clear the vision for non commercial travel?

Don't forget, they get paid by the shows producers too. There's more to it than the purse they are racing for.
