I believe by the time I'm done this year it came to 1/12 of my racing expenses , So I feel I got off cheap, I know some of you have not got close to finishing your shopping but ... How about you ....

Out of normal income 8% goes straight into the racing account. That takes care of racing every year , if money is won It also going into the racing account. If I need a emergency purchase and racing fund is empty , I cam borrow from the general fund , but this money cost 1.5% per month. This has not happen in over 9 years when I sold one car and bought another. This is just a hobby and If I want to go broke I could buy a nice Pro Mod....haha

You guys are lucky. My wife really enjoys Christmas. From the number of shopping trips and the daily multiple Amazon deliveries, I am not sure that I could not have bought a new engine by now and there are still a few shopping days left in the season... Shake head

Kind of lucky on the wife shopping. She hates it about as much as I do. We usually stay under a grand and this year will be well under. I just wish older folks would give us a list like they demand. I would spend 3 times as much if I could just go buy and be done. Shopping for something that you don't know what it is or where it might be kills Christmas.

How the he11 do you race on 8%? Must be making lot more than I am I'm closer to 80% and still taking forever to get car done and to the track. Congratulations on get it done that way.

8% out of Nicks income is good,
Builds up quick. That’s dedication. I can’t do that right now, too many variables.. or should I say projects..I’m sure he races within his means. We all do. Until I finish these property upgrade projects I’ve started it’s going to be tight.

Christmas can be a little expensive for us, we are a Family of 41 people. 8 children with 6 wives/husbands, 19 Grandchildren (plus 2 wives) and 2 great grand children. I need a computer to remember all the addresses and several sheets of postage stamps. The best thing is that they are all healthy, happy and doing well. We have a son who is now retired from the Navy (a “Submarine Nuke” for 27 years) and a married Grandson presently in the Navy (6 years). My wife and I have a wonderful life for which we are very grateful, so we don’t care what we spend for Christmas. I love racing but our Family is far more important.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

Bob, Norma and the entire Mendenhall Family!

Bob, that is one big family. Your a very rich man and I don't mean in belongings . I'm one of last of all the others that came before me, so the holidays are very quite . Not that I'm complaining . It is what it is.

Chris, I know you have heard me say this before , I'm a slow 10.20s car on and open trailer. That saves a lot of cash for entries. My accounting over the year's show that my winnings pays for way over 45% of my entry fee's. I have been lucky enough to add a second motor to my program as backup thur this funding of mine.

Merry Christmas to All and Have A Happy New Year.....

Don't ask, two grandkids and three children and my wife LOVES shopping. The UPS, Fedex guy and mailman all think its funny. Deliveries at our house happen ALL the time, difference now is it is multiple packages daily. Oh yeah wife is remodeling the house too so even the guys working on it chuckle at the amount of stuff that shows up. Her Xmas/retirement gift is the remodel which is rapidly approaching, well lets just say I could have bought a REALLY nice car with it. So how much have we spent, Id say its close to 1/2 of the yearly income in three weeks.

Hey I commend guys who can control themselves on spending towards racing. If I had done this in 90's I would be millionaire instead of broke dyck. Hell if not for racing I would just spent more on T&A. I learned my lesson I only spend everything I get now instead of what I might get too. LMAO

We don't get real carried away for Christmas. We all pretty much have or get what we want during the year. We do the gifts, get together with those we love, remember the ones we have lost, and honor the birth of the one who sacrificed everything for us. Cliche I suppose. But it means more every year to me.

For my nieces and nephews, and a Secret Santa at work, it will be under $300. We went to a grab bag/Secret Santa years back, where the adults got 1 of the other adults, and one of the nieces and nephews. We stopped that a few years back, like Bucky said, we all get what we need/want through the year. The best present is each other's presence.
