For a car the sets lower in the front than in the rear, why is that car said to have a "rake?" Larry Woodfin

a yard rake has the same appearance when viewed from the side ,,, just a guess

It gives the vehicle the appearance of a dog, hunting, with it's nose to the ground. But, such as with a funny car, it provides aerodynamic downforce. The rake is what makes an airplane's wing provide lift, a propeller provide thrust, and helps a sailing ship's mast provide propulsion. Take care. Tom Worthington If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

Tom is the winner! It is an aero term referring to the angle of attack or the differential between two points. Good job Tom. Larry Woodfin
