Why isn't true start being used at Bristol WFC? It's used at the Fling and at Bristol's regular bracket series. It would seem this would be the race where it would be a good showcase for it.

Maybe because Footbreakers use no electronics and leave off of their own tree?

Dead on 442....that and its stupid as shyt.

What does true start have to do with electronics? True Start makes the worst red light lose, not the first. It has nothing to do with leaving off of one side of the tree or other. Y'all's comments are about cross talk. The OP asked about true start. I used to be a people person, but people ruined that.

The way some racers see it with worst redlite system is,if you are the faster car ,and your leaving on your opponets lite ,with added delay in the box,the worst red light,TRUE START rule should be used,if its a no box class ,no true start . When my husband, Steve Taylor, came up with the idea, it was about the WORST RED LIGHT START AND NOTHING ABOUT ELECTRONICS Brenda Taylor Brenda Taylor

TRUSTART isn't being used correctly anyways. When you are watching "The PRICE IS RIGHT",if BOTH people overbid on the showcase showdown, they BOTH lose. They do not award the showcase to the person that went over by the least amount. BOTH go red,BOTH should be out.

I seem to recall Jed mentioning the racers did not want it at the WFC...

True start was just to make the first or worse rule cover the starting line also.

But in the NFL if both sides have a penalty it is offsetting and the start the play over again so there should be a rerun if both cars redlight. ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner

I am a big TruStart fan. Jed has stated in the past that he likes it but doesn't think it would be the best thing for his race. It may also have something to do with the Southern Footbrake Challenge being held at a track that doesn't have it, and they want consistency in the races that they put on. Tony Leonard

Dead on! We have races at 2 different venues and it is not offered at the other location. We want to make sure our product is as consistent as possible, and that would be a major difference between the 2 events. That being said, we still aren't sure that enough of our customers have had exposure to it, to implement it at our events. I certainly respect the fact that Peter and Kyle had the vision to put it in place on such a huge stage. However, we don't have the same core customer at the Footbrake races, and our customers have not shown very much interest in it at all. I'm a fan of the system, but Steve and I aren't sure we're ready to take on that line at the tower yet. You're right Shooter, TruStart is stupid. Bracket racing is being ruined by all these cry-babies that want to take away all the faster cars' advantages and make things "fair" and "equal" for all the competitors, just because they're too skeered to go faster. It's the god-given right of people with faster cars to have all the advantages. As a matter of fact, if racing was being run by real men, we'd go back to flag starts, finish line spotters, and hand written ET slips. Get rid of that stupid staggered tree and hadicapped starts, and let the guys with the fastest cars win every time like they deserve to. I can tell you feel the same way. Nice to see someone around here using their head for sumpthin' besides a hat rack. /s

I had someone go -.016 red behind my -.004 red this weekend, and it never even occurred to me. I red-lighted. I lost. I'm okay with it either way, as long as I know what the rule is and it is consistent. __ Michael Beard - staginglight@gmail.com Staging Light Graphic Design, Printing & Event Marketing

Yet another typical response from someone with no real argument. Funny, since I do race, and I run the at the fastest end of my class. I agree with most of your posts I see, but I actually *like* bracket racing, and like to see improvements and fair competition. Do you even race, or do you just sit behind your keyboard and whine about how stupid you think something is because you don't bother to think it through, or because you don't like losing your advantages? I guess you need a new hobby that's easier for you.

So "words" hurt ya huh...I said it was stupid....so...thats my take. You went off on some liberal left wing rant about faireness and equality for all.... Have a good day Mck....go punch a dog or a wall you will feel better. shooter....has mellowed in my old age.

My point was, just because something's been done a certain way in the past, doesn't mean it's the best way to do it. Two big reasons why TruStart exists, and why it's gaining in popularity despite people with their heads in the sand: 1. We have the technology now. It wasn't always possible to do it, so people just got used to the limitation. 2. It fits in with every other rule of "Bracket" racing and the philosophy behind it. Breakouts at the top end, "First or Worst", and now, finally, the starting line and redlights. It's how it should have been from the beginning. Luck is one thing, but winning a drag race before you've even moved is a lame way to win, period. Some people get stuck in their ways and don't think things through. If you want to win because you're the faster car, and not necessarily need a lot of skill or consistency to do it, there are plenty of heads up classes of racing to enter. Go have fun and spend money if that's what does it for you. But whether it's the average joe looking to have a good time with what he has, or the seasoned competitor that has honed his/her skill to the maximum and likes using it to win, Bracket Racing is about the driver and how good they are with their vehicle, and everyone should have the same chance to be good enough that day to win. Like the LED christmas tree, incremental times, infrared stage beams, etc., TruStart is a long-overdue improvement in a long line of advancements since "Bracket" racing was first implemented almost 50 years ago.
