I've been watching a few of the live/videos from the rock. it has been mentioned several times that the track is "small" & the pits are "tight. has it always been that way? I know they used to run the invitational there & ihra held national events. I know there is more cars sponsors out there now. was it any different then vs now? this also brings a question. is there a "baseline" of track property size?

For some reason all the pro classes except Pro mod have short fields at the Rock.
Defiantly no shortage of fans today, the left lane stands being so close to the track would be really cool to watch from

I've been to a couple of NHRA national events there in the 80's. Raced there several times over the years. Most recently, a couple months ago with CCRA. The owners have put a few boatloads of money into upgrading the facility and have made it a great place to race. The spectator side stands are great, unless you get in the lower sections where the fence obstructs your vision bad. I've heard they aren't allowing spectators in those lower sections, due to that. Back in the 80's, the pro teams didn't have as much to bring with them and everything fit fine. Now, with their hospitality tents and extra stuff, they each take up 3X as much space. That will make Rockingham seem tight for sure. There's a couple large spacious pit areas, where I expect most of the pro teams are. A large part of the roads through the pit area a bit narrow narrow though.

Stamds where reason they had invetational in past and not national event. Seems there was rule that stands had to x feet from track I think 60' not sure. Guessing NHRA taking pon new track bnecause some where lost to IHRA before they blewup. I am told it is smootest track they have since it was redone. Have not been to it for couple years. Never ton opg [it space but seems always had room. I mean hell even top alcohol class guys had asphalt and that means most everyone from to alcohol. If shortage alky guys would be dropping pans in grass. Have been .there and done that
