With many TD racers going to supercharged/procharged combos now, and the fields getting faster and faster, I'm curious about something. Does anybody know what the fastest NATURALLY ASPIRATED TD run is? Just got me thinking about some things and I can't seem to find anything on it. What I'd like to know is what was the et, mph, car setup, etc......

No, not trying to be a record setter myself, just curious as to what it is...

IHRA...

TD E.T..Sheldon Bissessar..5.684..PSTL/Ironman Chasis..Palm Beach.....1/11
TD Speed..Sheldon Bissessar..243.37..PSTL/Ironman Chasis..Palm Beach.....1/11

Of course IHRA no longer has T/D as a class.

Definately boosted. It was a Sipple built hemi (I don't remember the CI), at the time latest/greates BAE heads. It had a Superman 1471 DMPE roots blower, Bruno drive, Neal Chance, lenco. I know one of Aarons tricks at the time was using Lucas oil conditioner to tighten the converter..lol, At the time I thought he was crazy, but it no doubt worked.

With 6.10 being the floor, full fields NHRA being the exception and not the norm anymore, and the majority of the cars being 6.40-7.00 there is really no reason to build a super fast TD any longer. I built mine to run 6.00 when that was the floor. A lot of fast cars quit after that rule was put into place

I never understood all the uproar about a tenth for people to quit over it. LOL

I know someone who griped and complained about it when they change the rule. He had run 5.98 right at the end of the 6.00 days. I would bet you can't tell a 6.00 from a 6.10 if you had to say the et right after the pass.

Well there was a lot of TAD Hemi cars that could run 5.70-80 and were already having the slow to 6.00, so another tenth might be hard to get rid of, then you add the penalty of getting booted from the race if you run 5.99 just pissed them off even more

I gradually moved up to TD because I wanted to go faster. I doubt I'll ever have a 6.10 capable car though, but who knows.... Out of the events I've competed at, I've had fun regardless of et. And for me, that's what it's about. My car is getting faster though....how much faster is yet to be seen, but faster nevertheless.

But, that being said, I'd still like to know what the fastest N/A pass has ever been in TD. I know someone out there knows. No power adder at all, just motor alone.

Tough to beat comp. eliminator dragster of Bob Book. 500 ci dual carb 6.38 215 A/D. Or Clint Neff 6.54 215 A/ED single carb 499 ci. also Robert Bailey is right there with Neff in A/ED. Love me some comp eliminator.

Nothing beats cubic inches like cubic dollars. Smile Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

I’m going to take an educated guess and say somewhere in the .40s. I know Brandon Miller D1 champ and Jegs Allstars winner runs .60s here in division 1 and he has a no expense spared Dan Page carbon car with a n/a Sunset 674 Lil Bigman engine IIRC. Don’t know if he’s dipped into the .50s.

I wonder what weight we are talking about on those. Probably not TD legal?

Mark,

I think Bob Ross ran some 6.70’s on spray at Bandimere before he put the blower on. Not sure what that would equate to at sea level. I’m sure there is probably someone out there that is in the low sixes. Moe Trujillo ran spray for a long time, he might know.

Running in the 4.30's to 4.50's is definitely booking.......I forgot about Clint Neff. he's from here.....I should message Bob about that run, see what his car setup was. Not sure if it would be legal for TD due to weight, as I'm going to guess he was super light when he made that run. I know he can make the hp though.... Clint's run was just badass. Kudos to Darin Morgan and everybody involved in that project. But yeah, that took cubic dollars as well.....

As I stated, I'm just curious. Once I get my stuff back together it will be interesting to see how it does. I'm moving back to Alaska soon, in the process of selling my house right now. Time to pull the plug on just about everything except for racing!!! There was one day the DA at Alaska Raceway Park was -6800ft....Yep, you read that right, -6800ft!!! Although it was -25f at the time....heheheheh... They usually have pretty good air up there, my friend Jay Childs has the track record in his funny car....Most of the fast cars up there are mid to upper six second cars, and all blown....should be fun!
