June 25, 2018, 5 p.m. CDT, St. Louis Region – The inaugural Summer SuperBucks Spectacular, scheduled for this weekend at Gateway Motorsports Park’s drag strip in Madison, Illinois has been postponed due to weather concerns, mainly heat and humidity. With forecasts calling for 100-degree temperatures and excessive heat advisories all weekend long, GMP officials have rescheduled the SuperBucks event to the weekend of October 26-28. The high heat and humidity predicted for this weekend would not allow officials to conduct a safe and successful event for its competitors and fans. With a Friday-Saturday-Sunday format, it requires that GMP runs during the day. The decision was made after consulting with GMP’s E.T. Bracket Advisory Council and it has their full support. Anyone who pre-entered will receive a refund of their race entry. The entry fee refund process will begin on the morning of June 26. The new date of October 26-28 falls on the week following GMP’s NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event. Any racer who wishes to leave their rig parked in place after the LODRS race may do so for the following week’s event. For more information on Gateway Motorsports Park, please call (618) 215-8888.
