CURTIS REEDSGI rack and pinion steering box?
If I were going to replace that bushing I would make it from oil-impregnated bronze or Delrin plastic. I wouldn't use aluminum just because of the gauling possibility or it flaking into the rack.

SC4400Curly, I made one out of aluminum back in March, and it worked perfectly. There's no possibility of galling, as there is no velocity or friction. The stock one is greased, so that's what I did. I will make you one if you wish. I don't do stuff for money, just like solving problems.
