Seems some tracks have rule against running nitro in fuel no matter how small %. Thats just not right.LOL

Does your track have such rule?

Not expecting lot of reply's since most are not going to mess with it in bracket trim, but you got to play every now and then.Heck 20% load is about 15% tq increase and with what some are paying for racing fuel its not huge cost wise at that load.

I think the NHRA rule book says something about it. Pretty sure it's not legal for bracket racing. It's been a long time since I looked at a rule book, maybe someone can look it up.

there are rules in bracket racing? Around here.Rule 1 have money, rule 2 have diaper on car, rule 3 have helmet and rule 4 big tires on back(opt). LOL

Not really going to use in bracket race more of a play thing from time to time. It would make for some interesting dial in changes.5.30 rd1 and 5.00 rd2.

Go read up on the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) rules for just having nitro in your trailer...THAT'S why a lot of tracks don't even allow it on site. (You can thank Tim McVeigh)

to my understanding you can have up to but not more than 44 gallons. Plus I don't plan on racing at homeland security. Not to mention only running about 30% load at most.Which will not be hard to sniff out.LOL

As footloose stated and have heard from others quite a few no prep racers have funny smelling exhaust. I know that at nostalgia stuff its not going to be issue.Have to get handle on tune up before going that far.

Will see if I can find anything on it.

Quick check to 2 sites said if more than 44 gallons and one said more than 42 so my 5 or 10 should not be issue, Not saying there is not something some where else that says other.

Years ago we were at an event and were a little outside of making the Quick 16. Ran down to the nostalgia FC pits and acquired a quart of nitro.

We were pretty gun shy and tried to be about 5%. Even at that weak mixture, the smell was VERY apparent in the burnout and on the starting line. Picked up a decent amount but missed the show by .008.

We immediately drained the system and went back to straight alky for the night's bracket race.

So when is the latest estimate of WHEN you will be racing? You have been picking away at building a pretty interesting combo for a while. And I'm looking forward to seeing it come to fruition!

Not running at a bracket deal but for fun and getting tune for some nostalgia stuff later this year. For 20 to 30% I should have to change anything but maybe a jet or 2.

CAr is ready, just make few plumbing and other minor tweaks. Got to rebuild vac pump, helmet bar pads and windshield due in next week or so.Other than thats its test time and see if I built it straight. LOL or so I hope.
Looking for trailer deal for short period till I can build a new one. Delays in 2 big jobs has kicked things back some. Hopefully in month I can at least make cpl hits on TNT night. He11 only 18 miles to track if not for cops and small tank I could drive over.

As for Nitro thing.Something made me buy afew jugs this weekend at Charlotte . Hey price was cheaper than I thought and at 27 bucks a gallon its a deal, well maybe not according to wife.If I was dumb enough to mention it. When asked what was in jugs I told her more used oil.Not a lie one of the 5 was filled with oil.

Now we are ready to get busy finishing few details. Fire up new fuel system tune it.Switch to secondary system(30 minute swap and tune it.Test some with alky only and then test with some extra pop. Then work ontuning driver which might be hard part.Dang ol fool has been in seat of bracket car for long while.

Piedmont does not have rule against nitro, just not in big dog which means nothing to me.Not sure about Farmington,Mooresville or cpl other local tracks yet.
