Pic of my first race cazr, Also first car we built from ground up. Started out to build 7.50 car and ended up going little more than planned. This is second season pic after going to injection. Think 1986

Yes that is fuel tank hanging out front and would never fly today.

Run down on car. Bought out of field and someone had started cutting it for tubs and back half.Paid 250 bucks for the car. We bouth an Alston chassis kit. Built chassis. Took the 454 out of Dad's roadster that he had crashed year before at Farmington. Bought a junkyard Powerglide. Got a Trans specialty kit, machined vb for reverse pattern trans brake.Bought a converter and rebuild kit with a few mods. We took a pair of Ftero aluminum calipers, with pinto rotors and a pinto rack and pinion all out for junk yard and had a front end.
The trickiest part was building headers for it. I think #1 tube had 12 bends in it

First weekend out I entered a 7.50 or slower class. Dialed 7.50 Dude left on me and I ran him down pedaling 3 times and only broke out by .4. But I passed his a$$.LOl

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Mine is the Red and White one. Other lane was my boss at the speed shop. Sometime in the 70's Bluegrass dragway, Lexington, KY.

No, Gene was the starter at Bluegrass Dragway in Lexington KY (actually Nickelasville), I think he was also the manager can't remember for sure.

I have seen pic and took dbl look. Mine had the same scoop the first year with the carb thing. Removed top piece and installed polished aluminum filler.

One thing I have not seen on any other one. Dzus on rear quarters. Had to replace or repair and just decided dzus them on and make tire changes easy. LOL

Car was deadly consistent. Driver not near as much. When went injection I had to buy delay. I was red no matter how long I watched the last yellow. Once got that working we did ok with it. Then pops bought FC. Alan Starr I Tuner got killed in a freak accident. I took over engine builder and tuner. After that bracket what?I mean you are 23 yo building 2500 HP motors(not to mention the second engine you ever built, first in the car above)_ and you are tuning on Blown Hemi.

I did find out here that a guy in Winston has car. Funny thing. I saw it at Farmington about 15 years ago same number on it as picture above. Now that is one damn consistent car.

We still have this '66. We replaced the four link and did an upgrade on the rear of the chassis. Just haven't finished it because a '67 street car with a Procharger has eaten up the extra time. The white car is injected though so you should like that.

I have given a lot of though to looking the guy up and seeing if he would like to sell it. Scared he might say yes and no money to buy it with.

Mine had a ladder bar rear when sold and considering the very little changed and exact same number on Windsheild last time I saw it. I figure still there.
