In 1996 George Howard and Steve Earwood created the Million. It was $2000 to race for a Guaranteed 100k. The million has never paid a million or even got close. I attended the one at Rockingham in 2000 and it seems 2 entries were $4200-might be wrong. George Howard was way ahead of his time at promoting races---I was at Huntsville once when he flew around over the pits in an airplane throwing out money. What a person he was

The George Howard race I was referring to was at Huntsville June 21, 2003. The first $20,000 foot brake race and the next year it was picked up by Bob Harris at Piedmont. When the Piedmont track dropped it Loose Rocker picked it up the next year and that Thanksgiving tradition goes on to this day. George started the million that goes on to this day also. Pretty impressive man.
