Yeah - pretty sure that sucked. Fuel does not have enough draw for their own show. It’s Drag Racing and for me that means all classes. JMHO...

They're just trying to ease people into the end of the class. They'll be screwed if street outlaws is on Tuesday or the girls ping pong team goes into overtime.

Looked pretty sad on the winners stage with just two. I think all of Pro stock owners and sponsors should have a serious talk with the morons now running the NHRA. I was highly disappointed in the Sunday Show!

^^^^^^^^^. I totally agree. NHRA has turned into a **** show. Pro Stock racers should just not show up. Find another organization that will enjoy them as racers. JMO

I was pizzed at the way they ran commercials on a small screen within a screen watching the Australian Open (tennis) this year. Now we have FS1 doing the same crap! I fast-forward when they do that so no clue as to what Brian may be saying and I certainly don't want to hear Tony speak!

I hope the Pro Stock broadcast goes well.

NHRA really needs to work hard to somehow strike a balance when designing the format of their broadcast. I can understand the need to give paid advertisers the most bang for their buck(ROI), with that said, don't forget about what the viewer (Target market consumers) needs to enjoy the programming being broadcast. If the viewers don't enjoy the program they change the channel. Without an audience, no advertisers, without advertisers, no program, without a program, well you get the idea...

I tuned in yesterday (for the first time in a while) because I had heard that Pro-Stock changed to EFI and wanted to see them run with the new stuff. Needless to say, I was disappointed that they didn't show it. Guess I will now have to tune in on Tuesday.

The big problem with showing it on Tuesday instead of same day is many will already know the outcome and probably won't tune in. I do like that they are trying to get them more air time.

If you've ever been to a national event and watched fan behavior, the TV audience probably works largely the same way. This move seems to have taken that into consideration.

Lenny,
my post had nothing to do with the separation of Nitro classes from the Pro Stock class for broadcasting purposes, if that's what you're referring to in your post. I have seen the behavior of a typical ticket buying fan at national events. Yes the stands start to clear as soon as the last nitro car runs. Those fans generally head to the pit area to get up close to the teams during the turn-around and belly up to the ropes for autographs.

My post was aimed at the split screen viewing of commercials and the on track activity during the burn-out and staging procedure. Viewing this current format was not as enjoyable as it could be, or should be...

How dare you suggest that NHRA shouldn't force fans to sit through pro stock so they can see the fuel classes? Give the fans what they want! The idea is not to cater to racers of particular classes. It's the other way around. If people don't watch pro stock, sh1t can it! I don't know why they keep the other classes that nobody watches. Find something that is interesting to people. These outlaws seem to be all the rage. Find some that want to race full prepped. They can sign autographs and wear their flat billed caps and baggy pants and go a to b all day. LOL.

As far as the format of the commercials...they got the commercials done during time that I would otherwise be hearing Tony drone on about nothing. The entire show didn't take forever. Great!

Business 101, give the paying customer what they want.
Unfortunately for us (bracket racers) we are NOT it.
The paying fans want to see fast, side by side, explosions and crashes i.e. excitement.
Not 2 8 second Super stockers pulling wheelies or cars shutting off on the starting line then miraculously taking off again and the WORSE thing to watch is how one car gets a starting line advantage while the other car just sits there but then all of a sudden takes off to try and catch the other guy.
Remember, they (NHRA) are selling DRAG RACING, not what we do. What we do is the FURTHEST thing from "Drag racing". The only thing in common is we do it on the same track.

Here's a new flash, Why do you think the "Outlaws" and like TV shows are HUGE and have such a big following. THAT'S DRAG RACING. The average fan UNDERSTANDS it, 2 cars line up, take off at the same time, the fastest one wins. Not this bracket BS.

Pro stock is boring, 2 cars side by side running 6.50's, big deal.
Why do you think Pro Mod is growing? Its exciting to watch, bouncing off the walls, pedaling, etc, etc.

At Englishtown a few years ago Big Chief was there racing Pro Mod. He didn't even qualify BUT he had
more fans signing autographs than ANY of the Pros.
Why do you think that is?

If it wasn't for the time needed between the fuel cars running there would be NO Sportsman cars there. Why do you think they are cutting quotas? They are cutting to the smallest amount of time needed to get back to the fuel cars.

OK, I'm done.

That may have been valid in the past and still is for the little guy, but not the big boys, not any more. The most recent Gillette commercial comes to mind. Today's new cars that mandate all kinds of functions, shutting off at stop lights, and tracking (and I use to think it dinging to put your seat belt on was intrusive). Companies don't want to be bothered by the customer so they distance themselves via websites and phone answering systems (press 1 for English). You can't find a kind word on this site for any of the big phone/internet/TV providers. America has changed and so have old school customer satisfaction concepts. JMO
