Sonny Leonard passed last weekend. Sonny had a huge contribution to the motorsports world. Drag,Pulling,Marine, his stuff could be found all over. I first met Sonny in 1988 at the World Nationals at Norwalk (Summit motorsports park).I was racing Super Comp (Quick Rod) and he was there with a guy racing a 1978-79ish.Camaro in Top Sportsman.Sonnys motor in it.It was a bbc (ie 540?) with a turbo 400 in it. I know for 2021 everyone has 555 plus motors. But this thing hauled at the time. He will be missed.

I knew Sonny back around 1980 when he raced a Vega in Pro Stock at times, before he got famous for his monster motors.
He wrecked it and it turned out to have a fiberglass roof.
RIP Sonny!

TAKE IT TO THE BANK!!!!!
Later, Bill Koski

Hello Bill, its been a long time since we use to race at Milan. I think the first time we raced you had the Colt back in the 80s. I just recently talked to Pete. Sonny made a huge mark in big horespower.
