Looking to invest in dial in boards for my new car, I have had K&R before.. Leaning towards the Digital Delay this time... What is your preference and why?

Question:
Best Digital Dial in board?

Choices:

If you are on Facebook, look up William Daniels. He is selling a new dial in board that I believe uses a wireless remote. I'm not sure of the details, but I have seen people that are happy with them.

Those boards are really cool. real easy to read too. Now i wish one of those would hook to my digital delay box.

That is a shame that you have to change two numbers. I always double check and haven't messed it up yet. The one that is incorporated into the switch setup from Digital Delay looks nice.

Yeah I’ve saw them before. Just don’t like how it’s not mounted to a controller in car like the rest. In case of a last minute change when I’m strapped in and everything. They look nice and definitely afforadable though

I just checked it out. It has a wireless remote like a tv remote control. So you'd have to point the remote at it and type the number in, and you wouldn't be able to change it after you get in. I have a traditional flip a dial and I can always get someone to change my # last minute if needed - with this remote a random passerby wouldn't be able to change the number for you.

I guess it "looks cool" but it just seems to me like another layer of complication that doesn't really solve a problem.

That is a Matty box not a dial in board. SmileYou just have the dial in permanently lettered on the car.

I contacted the gentleman also. My feelings are mixed too. My car isn't the easiest to get in and out of and I would be a bit worried I couldn't change the dial and see it.

I messaged the guy that makes this board and he is working on a upgrade where you can see the dial from inside the car. I want one but will wait for the update.

Ordered one this morning. Over the winter he is working on a controller also that will be able to be retro fitted to his current unit. I figured I would give it a shot. seems like a really stand up guy speaking with him.

I don't have one of his dial in boards and I have never seen one in person, but William is a good guy and a tough racer.

Purchased a Chevelle that already had an "8" year old "Digital Delay" dial board, converted the car to 16 volt, the next (2) hot days the board began to malfunction...called digital delay and they stated some of the first generation boards had a resistor problem. Told me to ship it back and they would fix it....I inquired as to the cost, and they said "no charge"....just pay to ship it out there.

For a company to back their product even though I did not make the original purchase is unheard of in this day and age. They even paid the return shipping, and polished the chrome. Returned to me looking brand new. Working like new.

I will definitely be a long term customer!

I am not spending $375 to $595 for a dial in board. Not now or ever.

-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I won't ever race without a digital dial board again after having one. We have to have our boards permanently mounted at my home track. I don't have to have anyone with me to change it, nor do I have to mount it in a location I don't want it just to be able to reach it. To each his own.

just FYI, I have installed five of the Digital Delay systems that have the dial board controller built into the switch panel. All five are working perfectly and they are, without question, mighty handy.

In addition, I have installed two K & R systems that use fiber optic cable to the dial board. those also work perfectly and again, mighty handy.

With both Digital Delay and K & R, the control is at the driver's fingertips and easily changed and always in the drives view.

My personal preference is the K & R because it is built into the Pro Cube delay box. It displays whatever dial-in you have in the box.

I received an American Racecars best LOSER certificate at the Sportsman Spectacular at Extreme Raceway. Called American and used it to purchase a K&R double sided dial board. First I called Kevin at K&R to ask about upgrading my box and was told to ensure it was the newer model that was upgradeable. 95.00 plus shipping. Cost me 45.00 at American. So for 140.00 I'm like the big kids...

So far I'm lovin it..

I have the Digital Delay and it works fine. As stated in an earlier post though, I have to change the number in my box, then change it again in my dial board text field. It's no big deal, so far I've not changed one without changing the other. But it would be much handier to have the K&R were the dial display changes with the box display. Not to mention it's some good mistake insurance by default.
