Stage and race. WTF do you need to intentionally flicker the wheels? To be an AXX wipe? Stage and race. I like this rule. RIP It's a dangerous time in America. The communists are inside the gates. Our survival is not guaranteed.

I have no problem with the rule but as others have said what does it matter? If you want to play games it takes two. Shut up stage it and run. When I light my top bulb I am ready to run. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. I think that is what a lot of people are misssing here. If you aren't playing games yourself, then you aren't vulnerable to this trick. If you are playing games, then you get what you deserve. Foxtrot Juliet Bravo

Don't care. I have had guys do it, I just roll in normally and wait for their stage. Have had a few autostart fouls in the other lane because they were too busy playing staging games.

All part of the game, If I can get an advantage over another racer in any form or fashion, I will do it. Making them change their routine or just giving them something else to think about might give me just enough of an edge to get around them. I'm a below average bracket racer most of the time, so I'm looking for anything that can get me an advantage. Not saying I do what's posted here, but I'll try anything if it can keep me coming back. ------------------------------------ Not Hot Rod, not Super Rod, not Quick Rod, but the one and only NimRod

Exactly, you buy into it and it’s in your head! No win situation! Race your own race! Like Stick Man said; Shut up and Stage! California Screaming! Raceless in California!

Proof right here for anyone that still thinks Nim is Ed Pigley. Pigley would never write a statement like that. And on topic, I’m in the camp of “it shouldn’t be illegal because it can only affect someone else who is willingly playing a game.” And also, Mr. Beard, guys who are wheel turners do in fact complete the final stage motion going forward so it doesn’t run afoul of that rule.

183N --- You need to brush up on the rules for WDRA, IHRA and NHRA.. This taken from IHRA rule book and says "" Final staging Motion using vehicle's applied power MUST be in a forward motion going from pre stage to stage. This was written a few years ago to specifically to disallow the turning of the wheel as turning it back is "not" under applied power nor is it a forward motion. BUT this is only for Those specific sanctioned events and where some special race says these rules apply. So Mike Beard was 100% correct.

I don’t think it’s as cut and dry as you guys are saying. Guys that flip the wheel always perform the final stage motion, forward, with engine power applied. They are able to flicker the stage beam while still prestaged by flipping the wheel, but, that is not the final stage motion. If that rule as written covers this, then there would be no reason for the Norwalk to make a special statement specifically prohibiting it.

"Welp" was the first word in the Title of this Thread....Is that the term for moving the wheels back and forth? Didn't know that maneuver had a name.....Lucky I guess...

So, is it against the rules to flicker the bulb or is it just against the rules to sweep the wheels?

The vehicle has made it's final forward motion, sweeping the steering wheel is not vehicle movement, it just makes the lamp blink. "Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular." Dave Cook N375

I don't pay a lot of attention to the guy in the other lane. Other than when he lights the top light. He can do whatever the fawk he wants over there; I don't care. I'm just waiting for the top amber to come on. Then I worry about driving the stripe. Maybe that's why I don't win shyt. nomad Bruce Guertin Easily distracted by bright shiny objects.
