Summit vs Jegs

While I almost always use Summit over Jegs, I very recently ordered something from Jegs because Summit didn't have it in stock. When I order from Summit all notifications of the order and shipping are quick and accurate. The same can't be said for Jegs, the order I placed Monday evening was acknowledged, but I still haven't gotten a shipping notice, even though it showed to be in stock. Not good customer service.

That being said, I also much prefer Summit's website. I find it easier to lookup something and their filters to narrow down products give you more options to make it easier to find what you're looking for.

Anyone else feel this way?

Summit’s website is the bomb. Easy to drill down in many different ways. I haven’t used JEGS in years for anything.

I tend to use Summit simply because they are close. Before I moved they were less than 1/2 mile from my house. Cost me a fortune.

For 2-3 days this week logging into the Proshop was a problem but looks like they have it fixed this morning.

Yep, I was more of a Jeg's guy for a long time, but the website functionality differences brought me over to Summit several years ago.

I have had the occasional need to use Jeg's a few times, and it's usually fine, but one time I did have an issue and their customer service line was terrible. It was a combination of "hold music" with terrible sound quality, and the length of time on hold.

Last time I used Jegs was a few months ago, I wanted to order two spare lifters for my SB2 motor. Summit said expected shipping in 3 weeks from manufacturer.

Jegs said ships in 24 hours. I got them about a month later......... Good thing I was not down waiting on them.

Update, since ordering from Summit last night, I've gotten a total of 5 updates via text and email. For the order I placed from Jegs on Monday, I've just gotten confirmation of the order, that's all. And yes I am signed up for all notifications.......

Come on Jegs, get your shyt together!

Edit, about 3 minutes after posting this, I got a notification from Jegs that my order has been shipped and will be delivered today.

I ordered an Aeromotive Eliminator Stealth fuel cell from Summit's Pro Shop on 7/5/2023 & got a nice discount. It was supposed to be drop shipped/delivered this past Mon. 7/10/2023. I got notified it was delivered, but not to my house. I looked at the tracking & they delivered it to Summit's loading dock. I called customer service & it's on the way, supposed to be delivered tomorrow, 7/13/2023.

I primarily use Summit over Jegs & it's staying that way for now.

I look stuff up on Summits site then go to Jegs and type in the part number to compare pricing only.

I can't tell you the last time I purchased anything from Jegs, their website is garbage and their filters suck.

Since Jegs sold 1/2 of the business to an investment group what do you expect? Investment groups only care about money.

I've used both Summit and Jegs based on the product brand, Jeg's has a few brands and items that Summit does not carry. I've had great service from both but since Summit has a west coast distribution point (Reno, Nevada) and they offer a Pro Shop discount I tend to use them more often.

By your logic, you would expect them to want to sell, and ship parts quickly and efficiently.

When an existing business changes ownership, you either clean house and start with all new people, or you deal with leftover workers who want nothing to do with the new owners, or procedures. Usually the longer tenured, more experienced employees are let go because of their salary / benefits / vacation time costs, or those employees get offered to be treated as "new hires".
Seen it happen many times.

Local tracks that are participating in the Summit Series promotion hand out 10% coupons all the time.
$50 off on a MSD box was sweet.

I'll use Jegs for the price matching feature, I've gotten some great deals that way.

Use to buy from jegs. Till they changed shipping to 200 or 250 before free shipping. Plus had another member inform me that Summit gives back more to sportsman class.

Have not bought from jeg's for 3 or 4 years unless it is a no choice deal.
