Gives new meaning to "Shake, Rattle and Roll". A 7.1 ain't a joke, hope that everyone near Ridgecrest is OK.

I remember the 7.4 that hit us several decades ago, the street in front of our house in San Diego looked like the tide rolling in.

Harold Owen, NHRA's long time division7 employee and all around great guy lives in Ridgecrest. As well as Steve Parsons. Both had damage but they are OK.

Wow! Hope everyone is ok! Unreal. Heard they are averaging 1 quake per min! Scary!

The Loma P Quake here, I was Striper fishing on San Pablo Bay with buddies. 5 boats, flat calm beautiful.. started hearing rumble like a tug boat running up bay then the boat feels like somebody is yanking on the anchor.. the boat raises up and down probably 3-4 times and there were no waves... Confused .now we we’re like WTH?? Guys get on the VHF...think we slipped anchor.. then we get three waves coming from the South. 1 foot, 2 foot and the last about 3 feet! Still confused.. 1 min later buddy comes on the radio telling us what just happened.. you could see the smoke from Oakland and SF...So the answer is , yes you can feel it on the water at anchor..

Ok, all the east coasters say So Cal doesn't have 4 seasons. This proves it, Fires, Floods, Earthquakes and Riots.

Pretty much same experience I had while out fishing a decent sized lake here. The quake was a measly 4.7. I didn't even know it was a quake until I heard it on the news later that evening. Sure made the fish bite all of a sudden; similar to a solar eclipse. That is my next goal. Fishing during totality. Only had about 85% a couple years ago.

You left coasters can keep your earthquakes. Here in so. Florida at least we get a day or two warning of an impending hurricane.

I can hide from a tornado. Now, you know since I'm from Oklahoma I am probably outside looking for it, but I CAN hide from it. LOL The few bigger quakes we have had tell me I don't want any part of it.

Just a few days ago the Ca. governor was boasting that their economy was great. So great, in fact, they could afford to give free health care to tens of thousands of illegal aliens. Why, then, do they need the rest of us to pay for their earthquake damage via the Fed. Gov't Disaster Relief program?
Glad I left that state.

Yeah we did. The first one we had that was large enough to make my house shake really confused me for the first 30 seconds or so. We are still having them just not as big or often.

Fracking got all the press because it was a tree hugger buzz word around that time but the deep hole water disposal building pressure on the plates is what they really surmised to be the problem. They have now limited the amount of water that can be injected each day.

For non-Okies, there is a lot of saltwater produced along with the oil in some formations. They separate the water/oil and inject the saltwater back into saltwater disposal wells. These disposal wells are in fractured/vugular/cavernous formations that can accept this fluid. Some may say "saltwater in Oklahoma" and yes. Anywhere there is oil it was once covered by the ocean. How's that for climate change? SAVE OKLAHOMA!
