Has anyone ever done a Radon test in your home? If so did you test positive and have to do Radon mitigation? I am going to order a test for my house and just wondering. ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner

I had a test done prior to buying my house almost 20 years ago. It was conducted by a company that I hired. They and my realtor said it was a waste of money due to my location, with them knowing previousresults from the area. They were both right. It was a 48 hour test if I remember correctly. Nothing was registered. I'd talk to neighbors or township and ask if there was a problem in your area.

It really doesn’t cost much for do it yourself test. Plus there is a state discount here. ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner

I have been told you can buy test kits at lowes,Key word there was told. The professionl kits are little more through ,but cost more. I would help you out but too far and not finish getting licensed for doing it. Seems it is issue more with basement homes than with crawlspace's. Yes it is regional issue to a point. Ride around area and look for the little pipe up the side of house coming from under house(cheaper installs). If you see a cpl then yes test for it.If none then probably not,but its still not bad idea and just cheap insurance. America home of free. Brought to you by 2nd amendment.

Had to do it on my last 3 houses due to relocation for work. The second house needed mitigation. That consists of knocking a hole in the basement floor, digging out an air space a little bigger than a 5 gallon bucket, maybe two, running 4" PVC outside and up the wall and exiting at the eaves just above the gutter. The fans are crazy expensive and if you get the inexpensive ones, they can fail in about a year, at least mine did and I had to replace it before I resold that house. As far as tests, do a little digging and you can find reasonably cheap tests that are accurate enough to meet house inspection requirements to sell your house. The charcoal ones need to be sent to a lab to be processed so there's money and time invested in that operation. My employer had me do 3 month tests from a company they contract with to verify the mitigation worked. Maybe look to see if there are any radon mitigation companies in your area that can recommend a short term test kit that meets your needs.

They are required in order to sell a house in Colorado, especially in the mountains as it's an issue there. I don't know what kits to get, my realtor has alway either put a test kit in themselves or had someone do it. It's never been an issue, just had to make sure the basement or crawlspace has adequate ventilation.....
