I have some race car parts up for sale on the web and I have a fellow in Australia that is interested in purchasing.
Does anyone have experience in shipping parts internationally?
Any special requirements?
How is the exchange rate handled?
Thanks in advance

For payments Bank Wire Transfer is only safe way I know of for money. International credit cards they can easily do a charge back and you lose your money. On wire transfer it is done in a matter of hours and can not be taken back.

Do not worry about money exchange rate Bank takes care of that at that days rate.

Shipping is a whole different issue, some are decent but may take a very long time. Air Freight can be very expensive and still may take a few weeks by time it clears Customs. So you will just have to check around. I would ask customer what is popular there in his Country. I used to ship stuff all over the World and find that there are many companies that ship DHL, FedEx, UPS, USPS and many more. Some will serve some Countries but not others. You need to find one that has good service in their Country.

And some companies even though they do not deliver to that country will still take shipment and then ship it to someplace and transfer to another company that does ship there. That takes more time, money and more handling more opportunity to get lost or damaged. So talk to customer and see what service is popular there.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I sold a bunch of AMC parts to a guy in Australia. I shipped them to California where they went to an overseas container. I did a bank wire for the funds.

I sold a Ron's unit to a guy in AUS. I just used PayPal for money exchange and I shipped USPS since they go everywhere. I guess shipping depends on what it is you are sending. This was probably 5 years ago though.

Is it bigger than a breadbox? I've used USPS to ship international. Paypal friends and family has worked for me. Ask your bank about wire transfers and any possible problems.
