wideopen231Need grant to study drag racers
Figure with all the **** this country feeds money into. A case study of what makes one spend all the money he can get on a car. Go out run it as hard as possible. Then work to make more money to replace what he brakes. Then work harder to install what he bought than he did for the money he spent.
At standard rate I figure 10 mill will cover first years study. May need 9 other cases to study. Atyer first year will need more to study bigger cases like pro class cars. Hell more Important than study of transgender rats.
Any volunteers for this study? Paid in parts.

Phil DeesSeriously, I always wanted a study done on the life cycle of a dragstrip. Gotta be close enough to a population center to draw a crowd, but far enough away to avoid conflict with the neighbors. So how long does it take before the population overruns the formerly rural dragstrip?

I don't think you need to wait for population. It only takes on ******* to ruin it. 2 separate instances. Navasota Dragstrip down by Collage Station, TX neighbor raised 7 kinds and forced the track to put up a giant OSB wall behind and beside the starting line, No other sound barrier could be used. They are now closed. San Antonio Raceway had a Karen living across I10 some distance from the track hang a sound meter on her front porch and was calling the her congressman every time a car went down the track. Ended up having a congressional hearing. Todd won that one although the track is now closed. I could go on with several more. Hallsville, Kennedale, Dallas Raceway..
I don't think it takes population, just some a$$ that moves in after the fact..

B KINGApparently, Iowa has passed a law that protects established racetracks from nuisance lawsuits by surrounding property owners. This might set a precedence for other states to follow.

BP758SEMA pushing this for all states. I just signed and sent emails to Senators. I added additional notes regarding s o m e raceways not supporting our youth on more Wednesday night drags plus drifting.
