For as many interviews and as much talk there is about WDRA, there is virtually no information on their website.

Not really hearing anything other than insurance talk.

That just means WDRA is soliciting drag strip owners at this point in the campaign.

Insurance determines which drag strips end up under which umbrella NHRA, WDRA, IHRA.

Obviously WDRA insurance is up to par with any existing option.

I don't understand why Larry Jeffers isn't being given a chance, he is dedicated to the sport, building race cars and owning a track. He clearly invested in IHRA to help turn around the mess we have all seen since IRG purchased it.

I understand, WDRA was probably in the works for a good amount of time before Jeffers came to the table, but if the executive that left really care about the sport they may want to consider working with Jeffers. I see there are tracks renewing with IHRA, all this is going to do is split everything up and and there won't be enough for both sanctions to survive.

We only need 2 sanctioning bodies, one for sportsman racing and one for the professional ranks. This is shaping up to be a mess IMO

Wildman, I have had the same thoughts. However, the market is the ultimate decider, "only the strong survive." Or maybe, in this case, the best funded and best connected.

I agree Larry, there are only so many resources, with Jeffers building race cars he uses many components from companies that sponsor sanctioning bodies, races and some tracks. That is going to make things difficult to decide where to put the dollars, it would be better with one body or the other, both will suffer till there is one, so will tracks and racers. If summit keeps sponsoring the super series, where, if north American tracks are split between 2 sportsman sanctions what does that do for that type of series? They should at least be talking....maybe they are, I don't know

Wildman, again, same thought. "What if" Jeffers and WDRA teamed up to create the best deal ever? Now, everyone wins.

Since the WDRA and the IHRA are only bracket race sanctioning bodies aside from seat belts is there anything else that is checked by date?

WDRA QUARTER-MILLION DOLLAR SPORTSMAN DRAG RACING SERIES

Springfield, IL – Today the World Drag Racing Alliance (WDRA) announced the creation of the quarter-million dollar Sportsman Drag Racing Series for bracket racers competing at WDRA member tracks in 2023.

WDRA member tracks will contest the Sportsman Drag Racing Series during local points races in 2023 and each member track will crown track champions in eligible classes. Each eligible track champion will advance to the Sportsman Drag Racing Series World Championships in October and compete for their share of the $200,000 in payout plus bonus prizes. This free-entry race stands as the unparalleled best value in bracket racing. The Sportsman Drag Racing Series World Championships will also feature test & tune, gamblers races and a racer party.

“I want to make sure that all of the bracket racers and track owners know that the WDRA is kicking off the list of programs we will be offering with this Sportsman Drag Racing Series announcement and this program is not dependent on signing any certain number of tracks or securing a sponsor to partner with us” said WDRA’s Don Scott. “Everything is already in place for WDRA to operate this program.”

Under the umbrella of the Sportsman Drag Racing Series, the WDRA will also operate the WDRA Bracket Finals events at the end of the 2023 season. WDRA members will also have an opportunity to qualify for the Sportsman Drag Racing Series Championships through winning one of the WDRA Bracket Finals events. Participants that plan to compete at a WDRA member track in 2023 can begin registration for the Sportsman Drag Racing Series on January 1st. Additional details and a program flyer will be posted on the WDRA Facebook page and at www.racewdra.com in the coming weeks.

The mission statement of the WDRA is to provide value as a sanctioning body to racers and facilities through process modernization, unparalleled service and value driven partnerships.

in my opinion. this jeffers dude has got shammed by buying ihra. these wdra people are working to secure tracks and now put something in print as to what they want to do and what they are offering. jeffers has not had any statement since purchasing ihra that i am aware of. wdra has picked off several long time ihra tracks and now with this statement i feel ihra is doomed. i spoke with a track operator who said that he has not heard a word from the new ihra owners about anything.

the longer jeffers waits to say something the worse it will be for him.

IMHO - Sound familiar? Racing parts businesses bought up as a group?

I hope they get things going and start racing.

For me, the Teen Class is a home run. This will allow me and my son to introduce young drivers to the fun safely and responsibly.

Thats because the track you race at does not support it, They ran it back in Texas raceway days and TX Motorplex also ran jr street before Andy Carter was put in charge and shut down the bracket program completely.

WRDA has been working on this and was ready for this moment. Jeffers just doesn't have the momentum, nor the team to get the momentum.

Who wants to wager on which direction Summit throws their money in 2023? Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

From a racer standpoint, does it matter?
