1. The phrase is “life changing money” which it is not.
2. IIRC, 4, maybe 5 have actually taken home $200k or more since the beginning of big $ gambler’s races

And that was probably before settling up with the IRS.

I would most likely spend it on drag racing so it wouldn't change a thing in my life... Laughing Hard

This right here is a pisser. Cost goes way up before we ever get to the gate. I ran 5 weekends at i-30 this year due to this but after ownership change that track is out for me. Probably have to run xtreme a few times and maybe see what CP and Gaylon and Britt come up with for this year at Baton Rouge and Gulfport. Maybe we’ll get lucky and HRP will still have a race or two for us lowly bracket racers.

The races at $5k and up have always been and continue to be attractive to me. They are always on my race schedule.

Here’s my questions…..
At what $$$$$ point do you consider the event BIG money??
How far would you travel to race a 5k event??
How far would you travel to race a big money ( multiple $20k or more ) event??

We won’t travel for less than $100k through October, no need to with my home track hosting $20k and $50k races.

It seems to me that certain promoters always have a nice car count regardless of payout...Peter ...Jared...Michael...Rob, etc...

To me $50K and up per day is a big money event...

Remember when 5-10k was a big money race? I remember going to the first 50k at Stanton I think 94,that was unheard of money in those days. Now it seems a 20 or 30k race is equivalent to yesterday's 5-10k but doesn't seem so big surrounded by 100k+ races every week.

As long as there are racers willing to pay high entry fees, there will always be promoters with a hand out saying "thank you very much!"

To put this in perspective, I am 81 years old and still racing. The first added purse race I ever attended and won was in Salem Ohio in the 70s and payed a whopping $2000 to win. No double entries, no buy backs, and you ran the same dial in from start to finish. And they had a serious tech inspection. Towed from Baltimore up there and slept under the trailer. The good old days.

Time will tell y'all, I believe with the economic issues that lie ahead, the bigger races will play themselves out other than the Flings and Millions.

I travelled back to the OG Million a couple years ago as a sort of Bucket List thing. The only really big money race I go to now is Fling Vegas. The last time we travelled east to race, we did the Fling then headed east looking for 10-20K race that are Fri-Sun. I raced at Huntsville for 10k per day, $200 to double for the weekend. We don't get that kind of events out west although a couple of guys are trying....
If my new Race Tech is done in time I'll do Vegas Fling but if not, I may time the new car pickup and do Fling in Galot. Torqin told me a couple years ago that Galot was probably the nicest track that he races at and that's quite a few.

It’s a nice track but not the nicest I’ve been to by far.

3 of 4 of the flings are at the nicest tracks in the country.

Vegas IS my favorite.
Galot is delicious!
Bristol is always badazz.

There are other REALLY nice tracks as well! Norwalk, Z-max come to mind knowing there are others as well.

Galot needs to get that parking mess straightened out for sure. Chris you ever raced at Zmax? Worst surface in the Carolinas. I wonder if they ever use that track temp control at Galot. Anyway its 60 mi from here so I show up pretty often
