Charlie Lockhart defeated Ryan Gleghorn in Thursday's $3k

From WFC FB Page:

Unfortunately, Mother Nature dealt us a heavy blow tonight. We had a very heavy downpour and it halted our racing for the night. We were over halfway through round 1 of our gamblers race, and down to the final of the $10K main event.

Tomorrow morning at 8:30, we will get the $100K new entries (car has not been down the track at all) in the lanes. Once we run those new entries, we will move into our time trial session for the $100K. We will run our $10K main event final during the time run. That final will see Randy Biddle Jr. face Mark Philpot for the big check.

Once we complete the $100K main event, we will celebrate with the Footbrake racer that made history, by winning $100,000 on the mountain. After that celebration is over, we will resume with our gamblers race until we get a $3K winner, tomorrow evening.

Saturday will be a big day in Bristol. Footbrake history will be made. We hope to see you here!

BTE LABOR DAY $100K SUNDAY – THE FOOTBRAKIN’ FINALE

It's been a great weekend full of footbrake action here at the BTE Labor Day $100K. It proved to be another sunny (and hot) day, but the Coalburg Racing Promotions team and Bristol Dragway staff kept things rolling for a smooth sailing event. Sunday started with an on-site church service led by Steve Riggins. First up was the completion of Friday’s $3,000 to win gamblers race, intertwined with one time run for Sunday's $10K.

Thanks to Friday’s rain delay and Saturday’s cool track temps, the 235 car gamblers race was finished up Sunday morning. The quarterfinal round of seven cars included Ricky Pennington, Ryan Barnes, Jacob Rutledge, Chris Martin, Nasty Nick Hastings with two entries, and Gage Burch.

Pennington used a .002 reaction time to lay down 18 total to lock out Hastings’ first entry. Rutledge used his reaction time advantage and one above pass to take out Barnes who was on a breakout run. Hastings was .011 green on the second entry to move on beside Martin’s .011 red light. Burch earned the bye run courtesy of his .010 reaction time from round five.

The first pair in the semifinals was the heavy hitter match up of Nasty Nick Hastings and Gage Burch. Burch turns it .011 red as Hastings leaves .005 green to advance into the finals. On the other side Ricky Pennington and Jacob Rutledge stage up to see who will take on Hastings. Pennington has the advantage with an .016 light but runs .007 under the dial, while Rutledge only breaks out by .005 to advance.

The opening invocation was delivered by Jared Pennington and Dylan Stites used his piano to play the National Anthem just prior to the final round of the gamblers race. Ohio racer Nasty Nick Hastings stages up in the right lane to take on Jacob Rutledge in the “Taco Truck.” A pair of identical .020 reaction times leaves all the work to be done at the stripe. Both drivers drop hard, but Rutledge runs .003 under the dial while Hastings is .014 above to cash in for $3K.

Following the winner’s circle celebration and driver interviews, the race moves right along into Sunday’s $10,000 main event. Under the tower, suited up and ready to go, the one and only Rodney Finchum excitedly makes the announcement that he says he’s been waiting his whole life for; “Gentlemen…start your engines!” And with that, first round is underway as someone gets one step closer to picking up the final big check.

Round number seven holds six entries but only five cars…remember, bracket racing is just a numbers game, right? The ladder round contestants are Brian Cireddu, Slick Rick Baehr, Bug McCarty, Gage Burch with two entries, and the Thursday gamblers race runner up, Ryan Gleghorn. Burch is paired with himself and leaves .005 on the solo pass, advancing to another semifinal round. McCarty runs dead on with a seven but could not overcome his reaction time disadvantage and Baehr takes the win. Gleghorn is .022 but only had .002 to get inside of when Cireddu is .015 and dead nine to move on to round eight.

Brian Cireddu had already received the bye run at 11 cars; therefore, Rick Baehr earns the solo shot into the final round. Cireddu turns it .004 red beside Gage Burch who leaves .013 green and coasts into the finals.

In another battle between bottom bulb/big money bigwigs, Slick Rick Baehr and Gage Burch fight for the final $10,000 payout. Baehr rolls his Camaro into the left lane dialed in at 6.30 while Burch wheels his Mustang with a 6.37 dial. Only 5 thou separate them on the starting line and Burch runs dead seven to be .028 total for the win. Baehr was .026, drops to go .011 above and claims the runner up spot.

Another successful Coalburg Racing Promotions event is finished and the Inaugural BTE Labor Day $100K will be one to remember. Co-promoters Jared Pennington and Steve Stites will be releasing information soon about the schedule of events for 2021
