I ran a blown alk deal for a while, and have since exchanged that for a 9.70's sbc alcohol door car deal. Love it. Fits any class, box, no box, index, bracket, nostalgia, even fits no prep (not that I have the motor for it now.)

When my racing crew ages out (they are in their late 60's early 70's) I plan to buy a street car, probably something supercharged/turbo and stick shift. I have to wait, because all the baby boomers are flush with cash and reliving their younger days buying their 60's cars, and once they age out of the market, the supply and demand should change as their families sell their pride and joy at the estate sale, lol.

I'd prefer something I can race and drive on the street (I hate car shows) but right now, a high 9, low 10 second car is a ton of fun. Low Maint, Still pulls wheelies, and will fit a class somewhere any weekend.

Make sure your water pump is on whenever you check your coolant level.

You must have a car slow enough to stop at Barona and Irwindale...Even if you consider Bakersfield "SoCal" I don't think I seen 20 races offered there last year...I don't do NHRA so the 2 at Pomona don't help me..
Can you share with me where I could have ran over 20 races here in Southern California??

One of my options is to build/buy a street car that I can cruise around in and race occasionally at the two 1/8 mile tracks still in SoCal. Maybe find out where the good money street races are now..

Hey BTW, I heard Rhinhart on the mic in Tucson last weekend

Sure seems like he is. I plan to as well as soon as I get the new car dialed in. Unfortunately that looks like it will have to happen at races. Which sucks, but nowhere to really test it.

Dave still not looking for a 68 Camaro runs low 10's on pump gas Smile

I always stay at the Best Western in Wasco...Just keep going on the road from the track over the bridge (don't get on the freewway) and its like 10-15 minutes to Wasco. A little pricey but clean and free breakfast...

Al, the 2 places to stay in Bakersfield are the Double Tree on Rosedale Highway or the Holiday Inn Airport on Quinn Rosd. Both are right ov the 99 and close to all the good places to eat. I’ve stayed in Wasco and nothing wrong other than very few racers stayed there if you wanted to go out and the dining choices were limited.

Speaking of dining, out the front gate of Famoso turn left and go over the 99, watch for a left turn and there is a place called the Idle Spur, it’s only open 5 to 9 but just a killer steak
