MT quality control.

inferno camaroMT quality control.
I have been a long time MT tire user and have delt with fighting balancing issues, rollout issues and construction issues. I have put on 2 new sets this year and both are junk. One set took 11 ounces to balance and never did get it smooth on track. They sent another set and they have flat spots that were covered by stickers so I didn't see them until they were mounted and balanced. No way these go down smooth.
So now on to a different tire company just not sure who.

racerdude2054Never had any problem out of m/t. Goodyear now owns m/t so it sounds like your only other option is Hoosier.

inferno camaroI have ran Hoosier and GY and both balanced nice but car seems to work better on MT"s. But I have had it with this lack of quality control. I really hoped the QC would be better after Gy bought them but apparently not. 2 years ago I went through 3 sets to get a good pair.

1legI have never had a balance problem on rear slicks of any brand.

Make sure your water pump is on whenever you check your coolant level.

inferno camaroI have friends who never balance theirs and get along fine. They are not nearly as fast though and have a much heavier and softer setup car.

I run either the 33x15x15 or 32x16x15. 18.5-19" max width. 105ish max rollout.

3080 is the same tire I have run for years and currently on my Truck. I have not had any issues with mine. Have 100ilsh laps on the current pair from late last year.

Summit is where these came from. They take them back no problem but I'm tired of mounting and balancing 3 sets to get a good one. The 3080 really works well but I'm just sick of missing races because you show up at the track and it wants to vibrate the car apart.

AlaskaracerOther than the air loss issue, I've had zero issues with Mickeys. They do take a bit of weight to balance, but they have always worked, smooth as glass on track, and last. I've got over 200 passes on current slicks and will finish this season with them. Changing them out next season due to sidewalls starting to show cracking....

I wonder if they are more worried about the bigger tires because I've had a ton of issues over the years. I do have a pair of the 33x10.5x15W's and were easy to balance and work well.

Mark3x81i run the m/t 32-16-15 and do have balancing issues....it seems i get 1 good one that takes 2 ounces and 1 bad one that takes 11 or 12 ounces. that being said they still balance out and after 1 put 20 runs on them i rebalance and the one that needed alot of weight will need about half of it removed.

inferno camaroInteresting, if mine take over about 8 I can't seem to make them smooth. I think a lot of it is they are out of round. I've had a couple that the 2 halves of the tire didn't line up like the molds shifted.
