My electric bill for this month was $2.00, we ran the AC morning noon and night, never turned it off. Normally without solar it would have been more than $450. The money we saved is going to my racing account.

You the taxpayer, and debt, which also costs you the taxpayer more.

In California the money comes from "Rate Payer Fees" which are based on kilo watt usage that every electric customer pays for. The State PUC collects those funds to incentivise the public and Utility Companies to establish energy conservation programs. That fund is huge, it is in the multiple of millions of dollars. Use it or lose it, whatever is not used for conservation programs goes to the California State Legislature to supplement their annual budget.

BD , we’ve had it for 8 years here. Came with the property. We haven’t had a PGE bill since. Usually at square up Jan/Feb we have 1200$ or more credit. Rolls over. It’s a hot sob here ac runs 24/7 plus my race work.
In April last year Ca revised ( ruined) all solar credits so you get Pennys credits now! We were grandfathered in so it still works for us.
The only time we have paid is the big fires here. We had 4 families who lost everything staying on the property in trailers using power.. no big deal!
Is it worth it now? Costs verses what you actually get back?
They really fd up a good system!
Like some of the guys are saying, start ups take advantage of the Gov then file and move on. Leaving us holding the bag.
Ca sucks!

I respect your opinion because you actually have it! The tax credits going away is unfortunate, but here in New Jersey the amount I pay for my solar lease still puts me way ahead on my electric bill which is the real reason I got it. Mine is a lease so it cost nothing up front out of pocket. To put it in drag racing terms, if you were thinking about trying MT's, would you want the opinion of the guys that have used them or the guys who had never tried a set?
