A return to IHRA of the 1990s? Would be best move they could make. IMO

Is Dylan Mulvaney going to be their new spokesperson? Seemed to work well for Bud Light. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

IHRA

Exciting Racing from the Past to Return with IHRA "Hot Rod Classic"
HOUSE SPRINGS, Missouri — You asked for it and the IHRA is going to deliver.
Taking a chapter from the International Hot Rod Association’s rich history, the IHRA Hot Rod Classic is set to debut in 2024. These exciting engine-roaring, tire-smoking events will be similar to the Pro-Am races from previous years with drivers in Quick Rod, Super Rod and Hot Rod classes battling to earn special black and chrome IHRA Ironman trophies.
In addition, there will be a heads-up Real Steel, No-Time class that requires OEM steel shell, steel doors and steel fenders (with the exception of those originally fiberglass, which must be factory-original parts). No Billet heads or engine blocks are allowed.
Top Sportsman and Top Dragster will be contested at the majority of events depending on location as will bracket races for the Top (Box), Mod (No Box) and Junior Dragster classes. Each event will be tailored to the individual tracks which could include other classes popular in their areas. Racers must be IHRA members to compete in these events.
With the smell of racing fuel in the air and sounds of cars rocketing down the track, it’s sure to get your blood pumping as a true celebration of the IHRA’s racing heritage.
“Since we took over IHRA last year, we’ve heard from so many racers how they wish we would bring these classes back,” IHRA Owner Larry Jeffers said. “The IHRA Hot Rod Classic is doing that in an exciting way and is a great addition to our other programs like the IHRA Summit SuperSeries and IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Moser and FuelTech. It’s another way of showing our commitment to the racers and keeping the IHRA the premier organization for grassroots, Sportsman racing.”
In addition, it’s another exciting opportunity for the racetracks to host a premier event and attract visitors from all over to their facilities.
Attention Racetrack Owner/Operators, do not procrastinate, contact IHRA President Mel Roth mel@ihra.com for additional info NOW!
Keep checking out the IHRA.com website and our social media pages for more exciting news regarding the IHRA "Hot Rod Classic". Start making your plans now as we can’t wait to see you racing with us in 2024.

Sounds like they are trying to bring it back.

Which makes me wonder has anyone heard what the latest with the WDRA is now?

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

If in some cases stockers and super stockers can be part of the program that will be great. NHRA D 4 no longer has enough S/SS races but if IHRA could add some and mirror NHRA rules and classes, now we have a winner! [so to speak]

After giving some time to think about the stock, super stock classes, it is most likely not reasonable to do so. Policing the rules is big headache.

It was a pain in the azz. Joel Boyd was our go to guy here in Div 4. I could do the classification but Joel was much better at it. I was the go to guy for doing tear downs and verification when records were set.

In Div 4 towards the end of the Pro Am's we didn't get many stock or SS cars (he11 none of the classes). Even in Baton Rouge where there were a lot of stockers the field was very small. Seems the best we did was around 75 or so to as few as 17 towards the end.. Even fewer SS cars.
At Montgomery Raceway counting all classes, less than 75 cars total.
Heck IHRA paid more for a win/RU than NHRA and still could not get a decent field.

That’s because organized drag racing as viduined by Wally Parks was 1/4 mile and still is 1/4 mile for all but the fuel cars.
