IHRA news

Foley said he and IHRA President Josh Peake crafted the event with entertainment in mind, limiting professional fields to eight cars per class to deliver a tight, engaging program for fans. “People don’t want to sit in the stands for 12 hours,” he said. “We want to put on a show that keeps the fans intrigued from start to finish.”

This is the same Josh Peake from Galot Motorsports Park. Take care. Tom Worthington

If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

The Same one that was IHRA Div 2 director years ago. Didn't see any mention of bracket racing in any form. Looked like it was more about "fill the stands" than racing.

Yep. No bracket racing at this event. There will be one of these events at Galot, later in the year. Take care. Tom Worthington

Name a single company in all of history that had no clear direction, poor communication and a revolving door of leadership but STILL went on to be successful......
Go ahead. I'll wait.

I'm interested in seeing what shows up for Nitro cars. How many teams have money in their budgets for a series that only came about in March?

Last I saw, they have eight TF and 10-12 FCs entered....all second tier, low buck teams that barely/rarely qualify (or even attempt to qualify) for NHRA shows.

(i read somewhere that there were only 78 cars total, across all classes)

Facts are facts as far as who is there and how many are there. HOWEVER, the new IHRA is there putting on a show and a broadcast and it sounds like they are taking care of the Sportsman racers. You have to start somewhere and it looks like they are trying to deliver what they advertised.

I hope they become successful and bring back the IHRA of years past.

Man to be fair, that car was engulfed in seconds and the intensity of that fire was immediately making it difficult to approach the car. I’m not sure what was going on with the driver but it didn’t seem as though he was able to get himself out. Pretty horrific

Well if filling the stands is in any part of thier plan then they got a long way to go. The live feed looks like almost no onw is there to spectate.

As most here should know. Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things. I am a staunch supporter of the IHRA. Have been since the 70"s.
A couple of observations. Larry Carrier and Bill Bader were the only two (so far) that ever really did anything for and with the IHRA.
The Classes as they are now are reminiscent of the Bader era, which is good. Yes the fuel classes are definitely 2nd tier and watching Friday qualifying nothing really got down the track.
Also, I'm not crazy about the race starting on Wednesday for the sportsman Pro Am, but think about it TWO races for the weekend. Less than 20 cars in any class and still paid out 5000.00 for a 300.00 entry pretty good purse for the number of cars. Free food and they took pretty good care of the racers.

As to the sniping of the safety crew or lack there of for the TS explosion. What I saw... The starting line crew were pretty much on it in under a minute with hand held extinguishers, I did see a starting line pick up truck pull around in under a minute also, (not sure what it was doing though) I think the emergency equipment and personnel were all stationed at the top end,, as they are at even your vaunted NHRA races. It's rare there is serious issues at the starting line, at least in my 50 plus years of racing.
Bash away guy's, I'm at the stage of my life I could give a ****e.
NHRA sucks and you can not change my mind.

I forgot to add.. If it were not for IHRA the NHRA would not have TS, TD, Pro Mod, Factory Stock (IHRA Crate motor) and probably a couple of others I've forgotten..

No argument on lack of people in the stands for sure.
But the live feed so far has been pretty dang good..

By the same token, if it wasn't for the NHRA these guys wouldn't have had a place to race for many years.

I really hope the IHRA can make a go of it, especially since they're trying to expand to more areas. Last time they did the big payouts for the Sportsman classes racers stayed away in droves.

When I saw that vid my eye caught a guy in the background running from left to right of the screen. Shortly there after a safety truck emerged from the right of the screen. Weather the two are actually related, I don't know. Again, it just caught my eye.
