Coronavirus
quote:
A CDC update Wednesday says individuals are more likely to survive the coronavirus after contracting it. The health agency says if you have the virus between the ages of 0 to 70, you have a 99% survival rate. And if you’re over 70, the survival rate is nearly 95%. (dated Sept 2020)

quote:
The average age of Americans who die from COVID-19 is approximately the same as the general life expectancy for the entire U.S. population, according to health data gathered from various sources. Data across other New England states shows a consistent pattern. The average age for COVID deaths in Maine is 79, while Vermonters who fall victim to the virus are 77 years old, on average.

I don't know anyone that doesn't think Covid is real. But I do know many that are fixated on fear and ignore the data.

I think data is ignored on either side.

Here comes the mind boggling News story released today by the Sacramento Bee, The San Diego Union Tribune and several other California News Papers.

In 2020 and 2021 The State of California paid out more than 100 BILLION DOLLARS in Unemployment and Pandemic money to PRISONERS in California institutions. You read that correctly.....$100 BILLION DOLLARS!

The San Diego Union Tribune article named 9 current local prisoners who were awarded more than $166,000.

This is another example of how poorly California Governor Newsome has been running this State. Many of those prisoners have since been released by the Governor due to Covid-19.

It seems that it's extremely profitable to be a locked up in a California Prison.

Bob

The prisoners are prioritized higher than most of the population for the vaccine.

This is one of the craziest things I have seen in awhile. In Illinois,it is considered too unsafe to dine inside of a restaurant.
But you can eat OUTSIDE in this while the temperature is 30 degrees.

I am type 1 and type 2

Type 1 in that I don't let it get me down, I travel as much as possible, do everything normally as long as I can. Sometimes impossible in that a certain place is shut down, etc.

Type 2 in that I've done had it--twice--and it's not big deal either time. First time high fever for 2 days and a half of the third, then I woke up from a nap and it was "almost" like nothing ever happened. Second time? Couldn't taste or smell anything for about a week, which is good and bad depending on the situation. GF's cooking is one of those. Really that was about it, not much of a fever if any. Both times I got a week off work paid. Once in 2020 and once again in 2021.

GF never leaves the house, or when she does it's mask, helmet, radiation suit--you get the idea. She works in medical field. I asked her about the deaths and she basically said that people ARE dying because of covid but most of the time it's either (1) they have underlying issues, usually respiratory or (2) covid didn't directly cause their death, they just weren't able to get reasonable care because the hospital was full of...other patients (she inserted some other stuff). Her mother was one of those. Cancer, but it wasn't the cancer that killed her it was the covid.....ER was full, and she couldn't get into an icu which ultimately led to her death. Thus, covid was listed as the COD.

To me this is pretty reasonable. The LAST thing I need is to end up in the hospital, or need the hospital for anything right now. For anything. The hospitals have been running pretty hard and for a long time. Your service is likely going to suck. Mistakes are likely. It's no place to be right now. Covid is certainly affecting deaths. It's a bit of house cleaning by Mother Nature. I would prefer not to participate. I'm also not terribly inclined to use this vaccine. One of those things I just don't have a good feeling about.

Democrat-run states are now calling on the nation to follow the science by doing what Florida did back in May, opening their economies with reasonable precautions and protections for the vulnerable.

"We must follow the science by doing what Republican states did eight months ago," said Governor Cuomo. "Now that Biden will be our president."

D.C. Mayor Bowser agreed, saying, "The SCIENCE says we must reopen. We cannot kill every small business and restaurant in the city. Think about how a tanking economy would hurt President Biden."

Governor Newsom isn't quite on board yet, saying he will wait to follow the science and reopen until Kamala Harris is president.

COVID Lockdowns Have No Clear Benefit vs Other Voluntary Measures, International Study Shows

A new study evaluating COVID-19 responses around the world found that mandatory lockdown orders early in the pandemic did not provide significantly more benefits to slowing the spread of the disease than other voluntary measures, such as social distancing or travel reduction… The study compared cases in England, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and the U.S. – all countries that implemented mandatory lockdown orders and business closures – to South Korea and Sweden, which implemented less severe, voluntary responses. It aimed to analyze the effect that less restrictive or more restrictive measures had on changing individual behavior and curbing the transmission of the virus… Using that model, the researchers determined that there is “no clear, significant beneficial effect of [more restrictive measures] on case growth in any country.”
