Methanol by the drum
What kind of prices/brands are you guys getting? The place by me charges 175 for a drum of renegade methanol.

I'll probably use about 8-10 drums this season depending on how things go (rainouts, flat out sucking, etc.) Halfway wondering if I should just try to become a dealer and try to get it for cheaper?

Does anyone have any experience doing this, or is it a waste of time?

That's not too bad for brand name. Last year I was paying $165 for the same brand but it's a buddy giving me a decent price. I paid the same $165 for no name methanol here also.

around Atlanta i am paying $225 for a drum of VP and i think the sunoco i bought a few times last year was at like $210-220. i miss the days of getting a good name brand for under $200.

Last season it was $160 drum delivered to my house. I generally get 2 drums at a time

Steve, do you buy from ink man?

Steve, do you add anything to the fuel?

What area are you located in Steve?

I've seen name brand methanol loaded with contaminants.

Your best bet isn't name brand necessarily, you're best bet is stick with a supplier who knows how to inspect fuel, and does with every batch. You'll know when you find him, by taking the same measures.

With name brand there's an assumption.

Who does everyone else around you buy from? How much do they pay for a drum?

Mike Rietow, I haven't seen methanol "loaded" with contaminants since the early 90's when we were trying to run recycled industrial methanol.

In my area Fuse Fuels (Company Brand) is the methanol I use and they’re 10 miles away. When I call they can have a barrel ready to load when I arrive in 30 minutes. $2.75 gal plus tax. A barrel is 54 gal. Purchased from them for over 10 years.

Like others said, I think $175 for a drum is a fair price even if it is not a big name brand.

You may not know how to inspect fuel, dunno. To qualify that claim, do tell how you inspect methanol.

I have no problem with the claim, I'm curious as to the accuracy of the perspective.

Phil, consider the source.

What is your method of inspection Mike?

If your getting Renegade for that price keep buying it that's a good deal. And I sell Renegade.

Yes and I add 1/2 quart of Klotz uplon fuel lube to each drum. Warren gets his fuel from the Sunoco distributor out your way

Steve, yes, I am 2 miles from Lonestar Super Gas. Mighty handy. I walk down there and roll a drum along the road back to my shop.

Does Alan still sell his Interstate Methanol? Never had any issues with it. Might be worth the drive?
I use to buy 8-10 drums at a time, to last the year.

I’ve been running methanol for 20 years, and I don’t think I’ve ever run a drop of “name brand” methanol.

It’s just a chemical compound. All you need to know is that it is pure.

Been a few months since I bought any but $175 per drum is in the neighborhood.
