Software upgrades you don't ask for!! Aaargh!!!! Software engineers or whatever the f--k they're called these days. Always trying to make it better to justify their job. I didn't ask for an upgrade, I don't want an upgrade, I just want my email to look like it always did. But NO, you're going to change it for the better by putting little icons all over it that do no telling what. Kind of like a toaster, I don't want a bluetooth toaster that's connected to the whole freaking world, my phone and all my neighbors. I just want it to make freakin toast!!!!!!!!! As a person who is in charge of a support department for a software development company, I have to laugh at these kind of posts. People complain when we don't make improvements, some complain when we do. It's a lose/lose for us.

QuickBooks has got to be the worst. Every time we install the new version (yearly) something gets screwed up. (Inventory, A/R, A/P, P&L) It never fails. Last year, QB crashed in the middle of our yearly audit. We had accountants here from our parent company and couldn't get into the system for 2 days. This year, we put it off until after the audit. I get a call 2 weeks ago from QB, we need to upgrade since our current version is no longer available. Our IT guy is on vacation so I ask if we can wait until he returns. "No problem, your version will be fully operational and you can install the new version when he gets back." Sure enough, we get locked out the day the current subscription expired. It took our guy 2 days to upgrade the software on the server and 12 pc's. In the mean time, no one could really do any work since it all connects to the program. 12 people just sitting around waiting for the updates to complete. 72 Nova "Hooptie"

06vistablue, I get the part about not improving your product but freaking tell me, warn me, something. I understand that you want me to try the beta version but at least send me a warning that you're going to implement the beta before I open it up one day and don't know what I'm looking at. That's all I'm saying. And just for the record it was Hotmail. Tom, if it were me I would move to some other product. If they can't keep the thing seamless then I would find something else. Hell, it's accounting software. It doesn't look to me like it needs to be a wholesale change every year. It's still debits and credits isn't it? LOL Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right. Exactly why it is so frustrating. It should be a seamless update. 72 Nova "Hooptie"

Quickbooks sucks. We use it where I work. It's so bad that my boss has asked me to look for something else. Should be a fun project.

So how does one define "improvement"? That which is functional and necessary or just put the program in a bag, shake it up, and let everyone guess where to find things they use to know where they were? I feel, right or wrong, a large portion of the incessant updates are "improvements" to mine your information/data. Don't tell me all the perpetual phone updates are improvements in function. And as mentioned, there's a lot of job justification for those that sit in front of a monitor all day every day. Illegitimi non carborundum

I use Featurecam daily to program for my cnc machines and also use Solidworks along with it. I do understand working to make a product better but also know myself hating change so I usually load the new version along with the old to learn to work with the new IF the user interface has changed wholesale like Featurecam did a couple times. It also allows you to find bugs before they screw up hours of work. One downside to new versions also is when Solidworks sends out the new yearly update it takes Featurecam a few months to catch up. In the mean time if you updated Solidworks you can't import solids into the old featurecam and new Solidworks files are not backwards compatible with old Solidworks software. We also use a Sage brand software for inventory/purchase order/work order/accounting. I really like some parts hate other parts. Have to take the good with the bad sometimes. It was only $60,000 so why should it all work like they said it would? Sometimes people don't want to learn something new, sometimes the complete user interface gets changed and makes it tough to navigate. Many times you can run it to look like the old version such as Windows 10 when you are used to Windows 7. Just some ramblings about my software experiences. ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner
