Weirdest run you've seen?
Mine might be this one,
Two very accomplished and experienced racers with hundreds of run at this track did this...
First round,
Racer A in the left lane burns out across the line, Racer B in the right is a short burnout behind the line.
Racer A backs through the beams with his rears, but not the fronts, Racer B is bumping toward pre-stage....Racer A bumps into pre-stage with his rear tires, Racer B lights the pre-stage, then stage, Racer A stages, I'm like "Oh Crap!", then "oh well it'll work out".....NOT.
Racer B RED LIT, Racer A wins the round late and .15 under.
Not sure he ever realized what happened. Laughing Hard

Y'all don't have a starter at that track or what? LOL

Bet he was scratching his head on that one for a bit.

If Racer A has brakes on the front wheels of his/her race car, I believe it was a violation of competition rules to burn out across the starting line.

But, not too many rules get enforced anymore....

Our burnout rule was based on ET, not car type.

Yes, our starter did, in fact, do some head scratching, in fact Glendora was consulted, they had no answer.
No rule was broken.
There is NO RULE in print that specifies you must stage with your front wheels. (as of the time of the incident)

In fairness, Auto-Start was on, and it happened pretty quickly.

Should the starter have interfered?

I (we) say ABSOLUTELY NOT, unless there is a safety concern.
Track personnel are NOT there to be a determining factor in the outcome of ANY race, if no rules are broken during the run.

Put yourself in the position of the opponent who had what should have been a gimme round. The starter stops it?? There would have been HELL to pay.
As it was, 2 racers walked away embarrassed.

You are right. I hadn't considered it that way about the starter.

I have seen the starter back them on up before, though nobody had gone in yet. You could just tell it was about to happen.

The track operator I worked for is one of those people who see an angle of every situation you've never thought of.....very pragmatic guy.

His operating mission was to time and score the RACER'S race. He believed it was entirely their race, and we just provide a safe consistent program, fair for everyone.

You can't believe some of the things I saw and heard in the tower, from racers.
