Not sure about most here but controlling my need for new toys for more power is harder than drunk not drinking. Damn I miss old days when juast told dad a bill was coming in for new poaerts for Funny car. He sayd he does not.LOL

This paying to run car sucks too. Hellwe got paid to t-n-t it was called match race. If that guy drawing lottery number would draw right numbers*mine ) thios be lot easier.

Just jpoking rant for most part. Not the need to get more go fast goodies part.That is too real. As one member says I am doing iot wrong because always cost me too much. Hell who needs that food crap anyway?

I have two stories about having more.

First story, a high school friend was a hoarder of car parts. His spare starter was an inventory of about 40 Delco big block Chevy starters. Every bolt pattern, every housing end, every solenoid configuration, he had it. His big block engine inventory was every BBC ever produced. Every head, every intake, every block, every distributor, you get the story. Likewise with cars, Chevelles, Vettes, wagons, Impalas, it was extensive. This was around the 1970s through the 1995-time frame. The reason I can remember 1995 is that his stepson killed him, and I was a pallbearer at his funeral. He was 48 years old.

In the second story, another long-time friend was also a hoarder. His collection was even more extensive, going beyond cars to include shop tools and shop equipment. He had four buildings crammed full of all this "stuff." Basically, enough supplies to have an automotive machine shop. He died of cancer at age 51.

In both stories, everything was sold, scrapped, or hauled away for pennies on the dollar.

Finally, in July of this year, I will be 79. That age and those years of experience have shown me that all the stuff has little value. In fact, it is mostly a liability, left for your family to deal with.

That about says it all. Before Christmas my best friend had a stroke driving and died a few days later. He had accumulated millions and was still trying to get more. He had told me recently that he had created a monster and didn't know how to kill it. Never got to enjoy none of it as the vultures swarmed. I got a lot to rid myself of but I also have grateful children and a will I hope they follow.
