We are at the Division 5 Lucas Oil Race in Brainerd, MN. First off I have never been treated as bad as I have been at any other race and not welcomed at all. We are here for the divisional and staying for the National event next week. We were just informed if we want to stay in our motor home Monday-Wednesday at the race track it is 15$ a day per person. We asked can we dump our motorhome? The reply by "the *****" at the gate "yes 10$ in advance you must have a receipt. I don't mind paying nightly if they had a dump, Electricity a place to fill my motorhome but nothing of the sort. I guess they are apart of the NHRA part of enhancing our experience.

Are there other tracks that charge a camping fee for people entered for a multi-day race? I haven't been to a whole lot of tracks, but reading this race's flyer was the first I'd heard of anyone doing that. If it's common, I guess I'm just spoiled.

There was a track that tried charging a RV fee and a racer contacted the city and asked if they were a licensed RV facility. The city said they weren't and the track has not charged a fee since. Worth a call?

When everything is coming your way, your probably in the wrong lane.

There was a track in Florida that was charging racers a $20 cooler fee to bring in a cooler. That didn't last long......

Agree kind of cheap on track's part. But in all fairness are they providing security? Maybe things are not all that good financially for the track. I think NHRA has really tightened up on what they pay a track for a race.

It is only going to get worse now that IHRA isn't competing for the same racers. I hope IHRA can do something to resurrect class racing. It was so nice to roll in a track and be appreciated, known by name and thanked for coming!

I'm pretty sure there is a water hose on the side of the white bathroom building on the tower side. Where the return road comes uphill and levels out and the pit area starts. It's right there on the right.

When I bracket race at Brainerd, I drive up Friday night and park at the rest area just before town for the night. Rolling in Saturday morning instead of Friday night saves me like $100. I even arrived at 2:30 AM Saturday one time and had to pay the Friday fee.

For the national event, my favorite part is that anyone can come around the pit area but racers need to buy a $30 wristband to go out into the campground. They do have booked in bands playing and such but that should be a racer perk, IMO.

I think you can pay about 100 a night at the local camp grounds.

Everywhere you go anymore places are looking for ways to increase their revenue and adding fees anywhere they can.

That could certainly backfire. If the track has no inclination to license, then they might just say they don't want the hassle. Nobody stays.

I don't know that the track in question was fair about this. Sounds steep to me. But some level of fee probably is. Stinks that the attitude of the help at the race stunk.

I have raced a lot of bracket races all over the country and never heard of having to pay. Also, I have seen a lot of racetracks where there are multiple races at a track or in close proximity and they say go ahead and keep your rig here or the other place says park early. This sounds like a rip off to the racers. I know they want to make money but that sounds like a lot of BS to me and GREED.

In Sonoma we park and stay for free between the Divisional and National. Pump out and water trucks roam the facility all week and charge around $50. Im happy to pay for the pump out and water, (way easier than finding a dump spot). It looks like we are spoiled in Sonoma, we are lucky it's ran by a promoter who gets it....

Every IHRA Event that have ever attended I was treated with courtesy and respect. Most tracks try to be courteous and considerate, the few that didn't never saw me again. I don't treat people disrespectfully and I don't tolerate being treated that way, I have lots of options on when and where I spend my money.

Fontana is a great example of how to treat people, both racers and spectators.

Did they pull this after the Div. race? If so, that is obviously a surprise money grab.

Kind of like it's free to get in, but later telling you pay to get out.

Most tracks want you to have a reason to come back, this place seems to be giving you a reason to not come back.
