HOUSE SPRINGS, Missouri — With Hurricane Ian projected to hit the East Coast over the coming days, the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Division 9 (Raiders) Summit Team Finals scheduled for this weekend have been postponed. The safety of our racers is paramount and the decision was made not to put them at risk, both hauling their equipment to the track and traveling back home. The IHRA is looking at the following weekend, October 6-8, at a location with the space to accommodate a race of this size. Darlington Dragway already had an event scheduled for next weekend, the weekend prior to IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals, so the location must be moved to another facility. “We have a large event scheduled for next weekend so moving the Team Finals to next weekend wasn’t an option,” Darlington Dragway General Manager Jeff Miles said. “We look forward to the Team Finals coming back here next year so the racers can again have the legendary Darlington experience.” IHRA officials will contact each of the Division 9 tracks tonight to discuss the rescheduling of the IHRA Summit Team Finals event. Check out the IHRA.com website and Facebook page for further updates. LINK .

Just saw where it's been postponed to 2023. Probably some unhappy racers that paid a membership and aren't getting a bracket finals or a shot at the world championship if they won it.

Last I saw they were cancelled and would run in the Spring of 2023. This should be interesting as many of the tracks in that division have announced they would be WDRA by then. Do the people who qualified for the bracket finals get to go even though they and their home track are no longer IHRA members? Do the winners of the spring finals get to go to the world in 2023?

I understand the scheduling conflicts, but it is a shame that qualified racers don't get a chance to crown a champ this year, and go to Holly Springs next week for the SSS championships. I also wonder if those tracks who switch to WDRA in 2023 will be allowed to send teams to the IHRA rescheduled date. It would be nice to see IHRA allowing them to race. Those racers earned their spots. I also saw this from Piedmont: Piedmont Dragway · November 5 and 6 we are going to have the “anti bracket finals” at piedmont. We are working on the details but essentially what we would like to do is invite any track from our division to bring their bracket finals team to our track and we will run like they do at bracket finals as a team against other tracks. We will wear our team shirts and take team photos and do the best we can to make up for the situation that we have been dealt. We want all of our racers to know that we appreciate you and all you do to support us and we are going to try our best to do something for y’all! Wow. Take care. Tom Worthington If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

Tip your cap to Piedmont, ay least they recognize the problem and are trying to resolve... Mike

I saw where WDRA is running a Spring Bracket finals at Darlington for all of the tracks that switched. If you were in that division it's a raw deal no matter what. The only ones that made out OK were the ones that won their track championships.
