Again this has nothing to do with car and if offended do not read!!!

Now to question. I know it seems half the population is diabetic nowadays. Got to be few here with neurothopy .

Had an issue last night with my foot slipping off pedal and a hard time finding spot for foot and getting the feel of pedal. Thinking a small tube across the middle to give the foot a feel. The slipping off going to fix with strap on sides. Damn getting old sucks!!!!!!

Any here with issue feeling pedal tried anything that works to help?

WO,

I'm not diabetic, but I do have neuropathy in both feet. While I haven't had an issue in the race car, yet.

I have issues with driving our street driven cars/trucks. The main issue is hitting the brake pedal/gas pedal at the same time & sometimes my foot slipping off the gas pedal.

The fix for the street driven vehicles is left foot for braking & right for gas.

The race car, I rarely use the brakes during the run & prefer to rip the throttle to kill my ET. At the end of the run, I use the street driving method.

Have had the brake and gas at same time issue in truck.

Thinking since if I step on pencil it hurts,a small bar across pedal will work. Funny because had an aroofing nail in my shoe and knew nothing till wife asked what was wrong with foot. Nothing. Then why sock covered in blood was her reply/ Could not feel nail in foot bu stap on pencil in floor and feel it. Actually heaied fine. The next one had a minor infection Then huge blister on the big toe from not having a sock on for about hour and a half, 2 months not fully healed, but no infection. Guess take it like that.

I had to quit racing a year ago because I can't feel the pedals.
Backing out of my driveway I had to throw it in Park just before hitting a tree- couldn't find the brake pedal.
Doesn't get any better and no known cure, plenty of miracle scams though.
You'd probably better hang up your helmet before someone gets hurt.
Good luck!

I have it pretty bad in both feet and some in my hands.

No cure but a number of different meds can be tried

I take Gabapentin and it seems to have helped moderate the issues a little

I had a nerve test last year and that doc suggested I take twice as much gabapentin if one helped......take 2 a day...have not gotten the ok from my primary doc for that yet though

It sucks for sure....

There is no hitting the wrong peddal in FED. the big piece of aluminum in between them.I think it is called transmission, will prevent that.LOL

With Zoomies we have found out pedaling on topend will not be a secret. LOL so added a drag caliper to slow the car but not lock the tires. Partly because lack of feeling could cause too much brake.

Sounds to me like you should be talking to a Doctor and get it taken care of.

Doctors tell you to take a drug and to my knowledge non make you feel anything. I had one to make pain go away. I asked the doctor why hell if had pain would not know it. Had nail in shoe for hours and never knew it.

EXACTLY!
He needs to talk to a specialist, a neurologist, who might be able to find the source of the problem and offer a prognosis instead of getting anecdotal stories from drag racers.

Really? What part of the question asked for medical advice? I asked what other might be doing to help them feel the throttle. I did not ask for life advice either. I will make sure to ask doctor what he does to feel the throttle pedal in in race car I am sure he has a cure for that. Hopefully better than sorry nothing can be done to reverse the numb feeling in your feet.

Why the feeling that you need to give life advice? Especially when the question had nothing to do with what would make my feet not be numb or what will reverse this side effect of diabetes.

So everyone knows. I see a doctor 3 to 4 times a year. Along with foot specialist every time I get the slightest wound to my foot. Working in construction it happens more than would like. Latest one cam from not putting my sock back on, which came off while fighting firesuit pants.sock on, and walking around in shoe at the track to load car because of a junked battery, That quarter sized blister has only been a 2month deal.Oh and 5 foot doctor visits, just so everyone knows I went to the doctor and did not ask DRR what to do about it..

TO BE CLEAR ASKING ABOUT THROTTLE PEDAL and possible mods to help feel it better and not how to fix dead nerve endings in my foot.

There is NO cure for Peripheral Neuropathy and it's very common in older folks

Prosthesis is the name a Doc will call what you have in your feet

The best they can do is try some various meds and as I mentioned.....GABAPENTIN is the first drug and most common prescription

This issue started more in my right foot and hand at least 5 years ago

Progressed to both feet over time and became really annoying

Feels like you are standing in a bucket of ice water but can't tell if it's hot or cold...

Is worse if you sit around doing nothing

Tight shoes and socks aggravates it

Walking and being active helps

GABAPENTIN helps me....1 300MG a day...

I had a full nerve test last year by a specialist

He did tests from my spine to my feet using sophisticated equipment

His recommendation was to double up on the GABAPENTIN since I said one seemed to help

When I was still working and driving to work everyday and wearing heavy stiff bottom work boots, feeling the pedals in my truck sometimes was an adventure !

I am 75, close to 76......Getting old sucks !!

I have it in hands as well as feet. Makes everything more difficult. Retired now so no real major demands for physical stuff. Makes any project much more difficult. Would like to race footbrake but is real difgicult yo modulate throttle.

Docs have have me on both gabapentin and lyrica. Both settle the nerve pain some but too much kills coordination, not dangerous but def dampens speed on practice tree.

Been dealing with steady progression last 10 years, each year wondering when will be last.

Some days good, most not.

The doc put me on Gabapentin twice. Had shingles 2 times. You have to be careful with it. Autoimmune problems don't help either. Sucks to get old.

Tried gabpentin useless for me. Upside I do not have to wear hunting boots. Do not if it is cold. Either laugh or cry about it.

Yea thw feeling foot is wet and cold when perfectly dry sucks too.

If walking cured it I would be golden. I do not sit dwon all day till get home then about half of night I am out doing something.

Not sure about the neurothopy but diabetes is 100% curable and simple. Stop eating sugar/carbs and you will stop being a diabetic. 100% fact, drs like Ken Berry, Shawn Baker and many more in the low carb community have cured 1000s. I am not saying it is easy because sugar is the most addictive substance on the planet but it is very doable, I was zero carb for a year, best health I have ever been in. Your body will make all the glucose it needs from the protein you eat. Just a FYI.

My primary care doc said that diabetic neuropathy was not what most people have when they develop this issue

I am not diabetic and never have been

Last A1-C test was 5.5 last October and all lipid test numbers were excellent

I was also taking a statin that was really a problem for me....LIPITOR...NFG !

Got off that and all bad side effects disappeared.......Crestor....No problem...

You cannot expect a doctor to just snap his fingers and prescribe the exact right drug to help any condition

It's trial and error and tests to help get the right drug and in what dosage

People are all different !!

And I have Vitiligo another incurable autoimmune condition..

It won't kill you but is just one more "paper cut"....LOL

sorry but wrong. First everything has carbs. Except some rabbit food. Grandfathere dies with both legs gone from diabetes.Father has diabetes. Aunt and cousing have diabetes.

Agree you can gain control over it some what and in some cases it can be reversed. Depends on ho severe the case is.

Heck if no carbs issue I would just change to deer meat start I have butt load to eat and new season next week.LOL Most of out food comes from garden or deer meat. We do buy milk. Before going there I am down to gallon to galolng and half a week.Use to be 7 gallons a week.

Yea off topics and on me,just responding to post.
