DragRaceResultsBack in the Day!
Back in the day 1989 - Won the Divisional in Yakima, Washington defeating Mike Ferderer in the final. Winner got to go to Columbus 2400 miles away the following weekend. Needless to say we left right after pictures!
This launch photo is from Columbus where I lost at 3 cars 8th round! There was over 256 Super Gassers on the grounds!
I was 22 years old! I was the little guy in the picture, lol.

-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.
Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

ferndaleflyerThose are great. Along those lines. I don't know the year but the first IHRA bracket finals was held at Bristol. A guy named Joel Stodelmire won the whole mess in a 66 Nova that his daughter has now. He passed on this summer without a peep anywhere. Maybe someone else here remembers that event.

J178REDGood afternoon all that post here.Glad to see racers posting , seems like a different world. A neat new feature is Scott L making new threads, makes this place seem a lot more interesting. Just came in to say howdy , got to tow out my stuff for this weekend of racing soon.

DragRaceResultsHey Bob, correct we never did get to race. I do have a handful of those 990 medals with your Chevy II on them tho!

September 03, 2023, 10:06 AM
RPROGASDid you have a small block in it or was it like Edelbrock Smitty's with a big block? I just remember staying away from you during the first round random paring.
Where did the car end up going?
I have just one of those 990 medals thanks to Ferd.

RACER99OI purposely built that car for Super Gas. We did run it in Super Street some once we got the Geo Storm done. it was a mean piece there also. Bolted 300 lbs in front of the rear tires and another 100 in the rear to make weight.
It had a 377 small block. I traded it to Jeff Devey for the Aqua Corvette Roadster that Ed Destaute now has. I sold it to the guy in Washington. He won some with it and sold it to Ed.
Devey put a Big Block in it, ran it for a while then sold it to John Brazeau who won a bunch with it. Brazeau sold it to Mark Tyke who I think put a bigger big block in it, lol.
Tyke's wife was driving it in SLC and rolled it at the finish line and spent a month or so in the hospital. The car was totaled and I'm pretty sure went to the scrap yard.
The car was ahead of it's time. I remember the first time Sheldon Gecker saw it disassembled. He asked if it was previously a comp car.
Lot's of memories with it

183NNice pics and cool car!!

Larry ScarthYup. Gecker is living in Arizona. Still doing transmission rebuilds on a part time basis. Never forget when he won his second national championship. Wasn't even in the top 10. The last S/G race was in Phoenix and he needed it to be an 8 round race. There were over 128 cars in S/G and he won it. One of the best racers out there.

Can you put your finger on what was/is different? Take care. Tom Worthington
If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong.

ferndaleflyerMight I suggest this----Wend at 75 & 80, Fri at Manasas, Sat at Capitol, and Sun at Mason Dixon EVERY WEEK! + we had Cecil County, MIR, and Aquasco as back ups and all pretty close.
