If you add 2 to the stroke of four inch bore small block Chevy's you get the cubic inch displacement: 302 stroke is 3.00 so adding 2 = 302 327 stroke is 3.25 so adding 2 = 327 350 stroke is 3.48 so adding 2 = 350 Bob | |||

The Oldsmobile Jetfire came with factory water/meth injection. While we are on the subject of Oldsmobiles, Olds had a 455 Hemi that was ready to be installed in 1971 442's. But unfortunately as we know 1971 was the end of the factory horsepower race because of emissions and insurance regulations. It would have been interesting...….. My brother was involved with the Olds factory drag race program at the time and had inside info on this engine. Yes the 283/283 was Rochester Fuel Injection. 2 Carter WCFB carbs with solid Duntov cam was 270 hp They also sold a hydraulic cam 283 with fuel injection @ 250 HP and with 2x4's and a single 4....245hp and 220hp. I started racing when they were everywhere....'57 Chevys and Corvettes... | |||

That was not a good engine idea. A great looking little car( the Olds Jetfire) but numerous problems with the driveline....Usually wound up sitting under a tree....LOL I don't really recall what the Corvair Turbo engine used but did not think it was the same as the Jetfire....To many years ago to recall. A buddy had one and it was pretty fast for a Corvair but it was the later year body style....maybe '65 or '66 ? | |||

The Camaro was momentarily introduced to the public as the camoar. They had a 67 out on a stage with models holding individual signs, one letter per sign, and they all flipped them over to tell the world what this new car was called. A few of the models had gotten out of order... I remember reading this in a ratty old book at a public library about 25 years ago, no reference to it on the inter web today. | |||

Liquid Tire Chains In 1969, Chevrolet had an option for spraying liquid tire chains on the rear tires. It was activated from the driver's seat. Take care. Tom Worthington If it seems that bracket racing has gotten too expensive for you, maybe you are just doing it wrong. | |||

I worked in a high end restoration shop for a short time in the mid 1970's... The owner was a Packard Expert and wrote a well known book about Packards I was amazed at some of the things that were on cars going back to the 1920's and 1930's that were in that shop. Packards, Chords, Auburn Boat Tail Speedster, Cadillac....some cars I recall Headlights that turned as the car did..Had 2 sets, 1 fixed set Built in umbrellas and other things you'd never expect in the passenger area making for some real comfort Front wheel drive on Chords Supercharger Electric actuated trans shifting Overhead valves.... Pressurized oil systems but with copper lines instead of passages in the block... Just some things I recall.....and I always thought old cars were very basic.. The Cadillac did have mechanical brakes and that was a mess of stuff that could go wrong...! I don't know when "Juice" brakes came along but that was a big improvement....like replaceable bearing inserts....a very big improvement.... | |||

The 1970 GTO had an option for Vacuum Operated Exhaust (VOE). The mufflers were made with a switch that would bypass a portion of the muffler to improve performance. Check out the article (https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2017/07/20/the-humbler). It certainly was a great time for cars with factories providing these types of unique options for cars. Perhaps someone reading this thread had a GTO with this option? Don Kosanka | |||

In 1967 there was a "Turnpike Crusier" option for the Cutlass Supreme.
