You are in the Super Gas final at Pomona. If you win the race, you also win the World Championship. Would you set up for .000 or bust? Conservative twenty light and not redlight? What would be your strategy?

I never set up for.000 light you lose when it is red. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge. If not there is no point to argue. 4X NE2 CHAMPION. 2020 TDRA NE2 Champion

Congratulations to Bob Locke. Never met him and don't race the class, but he was in a position to win the World Championship if he won Super Gas at Pomona. He just accomplished that.Really cool to see.

Oh,I agree. But I never would have thought a .058 light would win over .068 in the Super Comp final.

Wow! a .058? I would not set up for that for sure. https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. If you are spending too much time "thinking" about how you are going to change your established winning plan, you are probably going home disappointed. Looks like Locke made all the right choices!!

Old man lights^^^ Most finals whether it be class or bracket racing, never deliver the “this should be a great race” when big $ or a division or world championship is on the line that’s what makes my son’s $50k no split final win a few months ago, the best final according to many, including 2 former world champions and several big $ winners.

stick with the girl that took you to the dance and matters not how good anyones final round is when you win the world championship and others races are inconsequential.

I would probably set up to be twenty something and about dead 4. But that's just me. LOL ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner

I am old...really old, no chance I would ever spend the money to travel the miles it takes to chase those NHRA points, I used to do it in the old days, I appreciate what they accomplish but I can win 10X that racing locally. I would probably have a stroke worrying about it, forget to charge the battery and leave the CO-2 bottle off. HOPE he goes RED!!

I completely agree. Your plan/method got you into the final, why in the world would you change? Congratulations to Lance Abbott for his win in Top Sportsman, great job! Bob

I have heard and seen many times guys rolling numbers into the box for the final and end up with a result similar to what happened in S/C at Pomona. BTW congrats to Jeron Settles on the win there in S/C. Finished his year up really nicely in a customers car with a par of Wallys. "I am not ashamed to confess I am ignorant of what I do not know." Frankly, way too many people are assuming these drivers setup to have the trees shown. I would bet money they were .010 or less numbers different from the round before and it just so happened that both drivers missed the tree. Statistically its just going to happen, realistically nerves and situation make it more likely to be the case. One cherry pick round for comparison doesn't mean a thing either.

I'd say if they're both nearly equally bad, poor rt's, something happened on the starting line. What that something is, only they know. If it were dusk, could've been a flash on the tree from a camera.

I agree with this. Often times, you will see two unusually bad lights together from two racers that have been crushing it most of the day. In the super comp final in Pomona, the sun setting most definitely played a part in the rt's. That time of day can be brutal as the sun is setting. Drivers in both lanes are staring directly at the sun. Mike Boehner
