On April 17 my house went on the market. By that Sunday I had a full price cash offer and signed it on Monday. Septic and home inspections went today without issue. Closing date is set for the 30th. I'm giving notice at work tomorrow and my last day will be the 18th. Then a trip to the east coast to take the rest of my son's stuff to him and two trips to Alaska for me....Second trip is one way.....I can't wait to leave this ****hole state that I used to call home....Have nothing left for me here and it's time to start my final chapter back in Alaska. This has been a long time coming, one of the reasons I bought the property that I did. Had planned to use it to leverage my retirement and it's so far working out. I'll go up there debt free, except for a mortgage once I find a house, and I should be able to pull the plug on the auto/diesel industry for good in about a year. After that, I'll be able to do whatever to make the mortgage and I'll be fine otherwise.....Can't wait to get back to the least populated, only truly free state left in the union........

Congratulation's and good luck. Sounds great.
Would love living in Alaska.

Hell sometimes better weather there than here, but think that true for all places. Besides can all always add clothes,if like me too old and too fat to run around naked in ungodly heat.LOL

Congratulations Mark, smart move. If you like to hunt and going fishing you'll love Alaska. Any specific place you are looking at moving to? We have a married daughter who lives in Palmer and works in Anchorage.

Steve, when I was at your place a few years ago on new years I about froze my arse off! Can't imagine Alaska. BTW if you can't stop at that track, don't worry the mountain will handle it.

Congratulations, with all the weather changes Alaska is not as cold as it was years ago. And that dragstrip looks marvelous, who could not want to hunt and fish in that area. You have a really thought your retirement through better than most of us I’m sure. You have great luck finding a home And living your dream.

Good luck on the move. Similar situation here. Sold the race car operation last year and closing on the house today. Next stop is St Croix, VI. Condo in Christiansted with a great view of Buck Island. Enjoy the cold of Alaska, it's a beautiful place.

I worked on the pipe line in Alaska, FOR 1 MONTH, to cold for me no matter the money. I left snow for moderate NC 23 years ago when I retired. Can't believe your boss would act like that. You need to just enjoy, Good for you.
