The new season starts this weekend

Tex013The new season starts this weekend
Well while most of you shiver away and shovel snow etc our season kicks off on Saturday .
1st round of National Drag Racing Championship .
This will be @ Willowbank Raceway in Queensland, sort of northern Oz . Weather forecast is heating up with32c-37c but there will be humidity and lots of water grains with a DA probably in the mid 3000s or higher . So I will be running 10.40s or maybe 10.50 so slow .
In the NDRC whilst most events have full sportsman range of classes they often have only a few "professional classes " . This event has nitro funny car , top alcohol and promod .
I think apart from some safety regs biggest difference for us is we run a .400 tree , not a .500 like seems in USA .
AS some may know I run no box footbrake , though tbrake and air/elec shift is allowed . This is 10.00-12.99 et range . And as usual I will probably be the biggest car in class , 1968 Satellite .
This will be my second season running the #1 .
Now all I need to do is improve my driving at Willowbank , never driven as well as I can there .
This is a 11hr haul for me from Sydney .
It should be 7plus tv app , though it might require a vpn to get around geo lock ?

BTR69I guess our season has already started. We have mild enough winters, that tracks can get in a handfull of races throughout the "off season". I think most of our local tracks start points racing around March though. My personal season and re-entry to driving again started 2 weeks ago. I've put together a tentative schedule for myself with as many NHRA divisionals as I can fit in, possibly 3-4, 2 IHRA races, and hopefully a full 5 weekend schedule with CCRA, all doubles, so 10 races there. Next local race is Feb 7, then Feb 14.
God luck out there

Watching a bit of this and I thought I heard the announcer mention a driver named Tex, driving a nice looking Roadrunner with #1 on the window. Is that you? Good looking car and nice run. Good luck out there.

B KINGTex,
I watched your 3 qualifying hits today. I must say you have a nice ride & impressed with your #1 on the car!
I wish our testing today would have went as half as good as your day at the track. We had our heads up our butt the 1st couple of runs & finished with a couple of decent but slow runs.

Tex013BTR , yes that is me . Thanks for the compliment .
BKING , thanks . Though the weekend did not really go to plan .
Weather was vile , high 90s or into 100s over both race days with water grains ranging from 122-140. DA was 3500-4500 during both days . I havent run so slow or dialed a 10.60 in years .
The Plymouth hooked on Sat day time but evening pass turned .So worst part was flat missing the tree in rnd 1 - gonski .
BUT the glass is half full not half empty .
#1 i finally got rear suspension adjusted to work @ Willowbank even with the weather .
AND
#2 a huge storm blew in before rnd 2 in sportsman and race was abandoned . So I am not behind on points so early in the season .
PS Darryl Cuttrel and some IHRA high ups were at the track for the weekend . Sure was nice of them to provide ice . The IHRA also signed a 10yr sanction extension with the track plus naming rights .
