Canted Valve
The LS6 was killer but in a heavy Chevelle. While tires had to be a limiting factor my money would be on the all aluminum L-88 in a Corvette or Camaro.

Speaking of 7000 rpm, I remember one of the rich kids around town had a '64 Chevelle 327 (before the advent of the Mark lV BB) worked on by a very good mechanic. He was determined to get 7000 out of his "solid lifter package". I remember hearing him take out of a gas station and while his tach may have eventually hit 7000 it had long laid over with valve float. But his ego demanded 7000. Shake head

Neither of those cars is showroom stock as they came off the assembly line 50 years ago and neither could run a sub 13 second 1/4 mile.
