Any for sure news (or in the know rumors) about John’s recovery?

Couple weeks ago Brittney said he was going to "try" to rejoin the team at the end of the season. Nothing specific about his condition though.

I'm glad he is doing well since he is an icon of and the face of our favorite sport.

I have to say though, I think it is unfair to all in the class that a replacement driver is able to gain points for someone who is out. It will look bad if Jack is able to do well enough for John to win the championship. Lots of people out there that won't know a rule was changed because of Covid, I believe and kept in place for this to happen.

Number one rule...the show must go on...Besides if the team keeps the car on a rail like they're doing, John probably would have won it all anyhow....

I believe NHRA should use the rule of all sports.

In every sport when a substitute replaces the original player the original player is not awarded the results of the substitutes performance.

Another thought on the subject:

In baseball the batter (A Person) is awarded the results of the performance, not the bat.

I agree with Bob, a bat will just lay in the dirt until a person picks it up and does the actual swinging.A football cant fly into the endzone unless A person throws or carries it. Likewise a race car can be set up to run the number every time but unless A person lets go of the button or brake pedal on time, no win lights will lite up. I have been a fan of Beckman since his sportsman days, and if you look at his reaction times, he was first off the line in every round except the final. Although my opinion is the person should get the points, in this case I would like to see Force go out on top, so he can actually be the G.O.A.T. His stable is full of talent to keep his legacy alive, and I would like to see Beckman back full time with that team.

The other way to look at it is that in a team sport the points go to the team regardless of who is in net, who the quarter back is, who the pitcher is etc. In this case John Force is part of team where you have a driver, crew chief(s), cylinder head specialists, clutch specialists and numerous other members that make up a team.

To be devil's advocate, what if this were a big money bracket race series? If I run the first race and then put Cory Gulitti in my car for the rest of the year should I get the championship at the end? I still fuel the car and limp up to watch him turn on win lights.

It is pretty obvious they want to keep his current condition private which is fine.
My bet is he will be in Pomona for the finals and make some sort of announcement about his future.
Personally I don't see any doctor signing a release to let him drive a nitro funny car again

Undertaker, none of the crew you mentioned are in the car with the driver. Only John Force......but rules are rules. Unlike the democrats I abide by the rules and hope Beckman gets John another world championship.

Rules are not always ethical or morally correct. Awarding a driver the points a replacement driver earns isn't ethical, it may be the rule but it's still not right. I respect The NHRA, but in this case they are just flat wrong.

A "Pinch Hitter" on your Baseball Team hits a home run, why should the player he replaced get the credit?

BTW, I'm a BIG fan of Jack and John.

I agree Bob, this rule was put in effect during Covid and not rescinded. I bet this rule will be gone in 2025!

John Force Set to Return to Track First Time Since Violent Crash, Will Support JFR Teams at NHRA Nevada Nationals

“Vegas is close enough to home that (my wife) Laurie and I can drive over,” Force said. “I want to show my support for our race teams, the fans and all our sponsors. They’ve stuck with me during a hard time, and I want them to know that I haven’t forgotten them and I haven’t gone anywhere. I’ve just been doing my rehab, trying to stay strong.”

Like rule or not is waqs that way at beginning of season it holds as rule. Personally I see it no different than the countdown BS with points reset. Never liked it but it is what it is.

I see point its not really a fair deal.

That rule does not bother me one bit.The rule was there before the crash so they should use it and keep the sponsors and team out there.

Plus they are barely getting full fields anyway so I would not do anything to hurt the car count.

Force is one of my all time favorites but if that rule was not there and they changed rules after his crash to help him or hurt him I would not be happy. Set the rules and stick by them.

I also do not like the Countdown points deal. To me it makes it like WWE. I can see making final races double points but resetting points earned is stupid.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Just like nascar the stupid moves at the end of the season were desperation because interest in the sport was dying because of other goofy rules they instituted!Though nhra isn't as jerry rigged as nascar where everyone but 4 drivers are eliminated and the championship goes to the driver fortunate enough to have the correct setup for one race!

TAKE IT TO THE BANK!!!!!
